🏠 In the Safe Zone for unaccompanied and separated children at the Registration and Reception Centre in Harmanli, small everyday activities continue to create moments of connection and routine.

♟️IOM Bulgaria’s team regularly organizes informal play sessions, where children gather around games like Jenga, chess, and darts. 🎯 These moments may seem simple, but they offer a chance to relax, interact with others, and take a break from the uncertainty of daily life.

Through shared activities, children build focus, communication, and social skills 🤝 while also finding a sense of normalcy in a safe and supportive environment. 💙 .

Alongside these activities, IOM continues to offer individual social, psychological, and legal support, tailored to the specific needs of each child. 👥

🏠IOM Bulgaria’s team continues to provide essential support to newly accommodated unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) in the Safe Zones managed by the organization.

⚖️🌍 In the Safe Zone in RRC Sofia - Voenna Rampa our legal expert, together with a cultural mediator, conducted an introductory information session to help the children better understand their rights, obligations, and the procedures they will go through while in Bulgaria. The session also created a space for questions and open discussion, ensuring that each child feels informed and supported from the very beginning of their stay.

At IOM Bulgaria, we remain committed to fostering a safe, transparent, and supportive environment where every child can navigate this new chapter with confidence. 🌱

🌍🇧🇬 IOM Bulgaria Holds First Civic Orientation Course in English

This week, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Bulgaria organized the first Civic Orientation Course delivered in English, continuing its efforts to provide accessible and reliable information to migrants and refugees across the country. 🤝

👥 The session generated strong interest, with more than 30 participants attending to learn more about life in Bulgaria and the support services available to them.

📘 During the course, participants were introduced to IOM’s activities in Bulgaria and received practical information on key aspects of living in their host country. The session also provided an opportunity to sign up for Bulgarian language courses and learn more about the assistance available through IOM.

⚖️ Participants actively engaged in discussions and asked a wide range of questions related to their stay in Bulgaria. Following the session, IOM’s legal expert provided consultations addressing topics such as residence procedures, access to services, and other legal matters connected to starting a new life in the country.

🤝 Civic Orientation Courses remain an important part of IOM Bulgaria’s work to support migrants with the knowledge and guidance they need to navigate their new environment, access services, and make informed decisions about their future.

☀️🏀 Spring Energy on the Basketball Court at the Safe Zone in RRC Sofia – Ovcha Kupel

As the first warm days of spring arrive, the unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) accommodated in the Safe Zone at the Registration and Reception Center (RRC) Sofia – Ovcha Kupel stepped outside for an energizing game of basketball at the small playground in the center’s yard. 🌱🌞

The activity was initiated by an IOM Bulgaria social worker, who encouraged the children to take a break from their rooms and phones 📱 and spend time outdoors, moving, playing, and enjoying the fresh air together. Despite observing the Ramadan fast 🌙, the young players eagerly joined the game, filling the court with energy, laughter, and friendly competition. ⛹️‍♂️🏀😄

Physical activity and sports play an important role in the emotional well-being of children, especially for those living far from their homes and families. Movement and team games help relieve stress, build confidence, strengthen friendships, and offer moments of joy and normalcy. 🤝💪🌟
