🌍🏠 A community meeting was recently held by IOM Bulgaria at the Safe Zone in RRC Sofia – Ovcha Kupel, bringing together unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and members of the team.

💬 Community meetings create a space where social workers and children can come together to talk about everyday topics – from house rules and living together, to building a calm and safe environment for everyone.

⚖️ At the latest session, a legal expert from the mobile team also joined, answering questions and providing helpful information to the children.

🤝 These regular gatherings help build trust, encourage open dialogue, and support a sense of community in the Safe Zone.

🇪🇺 This activity was implemented in the framework of the projects "Support for Unaccompanied Minors Accommodated in Safe Zones" and "Support for asylumseekers in Bulgaria" funded by the National Programme of Bulgaria under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027 with the financial support of the European Union.

📍 Варна и Бургас бяха домакини на обучения за служители на първа линия, посветени на ефективната комуникация, работата в кризисни ситуации и подкрепата на уязвими мигранти.

В рамките на инициативата, част от проекта „Подкрепа за интеграция на бежанци от Украйна“, експерти от МОМ и Българския Червен кръст споделиха практически знания и опит в ключови области като:
✔️ превенция на професионалното прегаряне и грижа за психичното здраве
✔️ деескалация и работа при стрес и кризисни ситуации
✔️ управление на комплексни случаи и медицинска навигация
✔️ междукултурна комуникация и работа с културни различия
✔️ подкрепа за уязвими групи, включително деца и семейства

✨ Обученията създадоха пространство за обмен на добри практики и надграждане на уменията на специалистите, които ежедневно работят на първа линия с хора в уязвима ситуация.

Продължаваме да инвестираме в знания и капацитет, за да гарантираме по-ефективна, човечна и устойчива подкрепа за хората, които имат най-голяма нужда.

☀️ With spring settling in and warmer days ahead, more activities are moving outdoors at the Safe Zone in the Registration and Reception Centre in Harmanli.

🏸 Children and IOM staff spend time together playing, sharing a few light moments and enjoying the sunshine.

These simple interactions help build connection and trust, while creating a more relaxed and supportive environment for unaccompanied and separated children.

👥 Alongside these daily moments, IOM continues to provide tailored social, psychological, and legal support to each child.

Очаквайте скоро детска книжка, посветена на украинските деца!

Автор на книгата ще бъде Бистра Божикова .

Експерт на МОМ, заедно с Бистра, посети украинското училище в рамките на вдъхновяваща среща с деца и преподаватели. Специално за срещата, децата бяха създали свои собствени книжки – изпълнени с истории, рисунки и мечти.

Посещението беше част от процеса по създаването на новото детско издание, което ще събере и представи детските гласове, преживявания и надежди по един искрен и докосващ начин.

A truly inspiring cultural encounter ✨

Students from IOM Bulgaria’s Bulgarian language courses had the opportunity to visit the exhibition FOUR HANDS | mirror by French artist Axel Morel at Little Bird Place Gallery in Sofia.

During the visit, they explored the artworks and took part in an engaging discussion with the artist himself—an open and welcoming conversation that sparked curiosity, questions, and new perspectives.

This initiative by IOM Bulgaria in partnership with Little Bird Place Gallery brings migrants closer to contemporary art, creating meaningful spaces for dialogue, cultural exchange, and connection.

Art becomes a shared language—one that brings people together beyond words.

🌍🤝 Starting over in a new country often begins with questions. To help newly arrived third-country nationals (TCNs) find orientation and support from the very beginning, IOM Bulgaria’s mobile teams continue conducting introductory group consultations at the Registration and Reception Centres (RRCs) in Sofia.

During these sessions, IOM’s social workers, legal experts and psychologists provide clear and practical information on life in Bulgaria, available services, access to healthcare and social support, the asylum procedure, as well as ways to protect personal well-being during a challenging period.

🗣️ With the support of IOM’s dedicated cultural mediators, communication becomes easier and information is shared in a respectful and accessible way, helping people feel understood and supported from the start.

Beyond the group consultations, participants are also informed about the possibility to receive individual assistance and follow-up support according to their specific needs.

📍 IOM Bulgaria’s teams regularly visit the RRCs in Sofia and other locations across the country, providing social, legal, psychological and administrative support to migrants and asylum seekers.

🇺🇦🤝🇧🇬Standing with Ukrainian Refugees in Bulgaria

As the war in Ukraine continues, IOM Bulgaria remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting people forced to flee their homes and rebuild their lives in safety 💙.

📍At the Migrant Information and Resource Centre in Burgas, IOM teams meet with refugees from Ukraine every day, offering guidance and tailored support based on individual needs. Among this support is temporary rental assistance, helping people who are actively working toward integration — through employment, education, or skills development — to secure safe housing and regain stability 🏘️✨.

This short-term assistance, delivered in close cooperation with IOM specialists 🤝, is aimed at easing a critical transition period and empowering individuals and families to move forward with confidence and independence.

Нека помним, че уважението, равенството и разбирателството са основа за по-добро бъдеще за всички.

МОМ България допринася за информираността на обществото относно потенциалните рискове, свързани с трафика на хора, както и за правните аспекти на миграцията.

Специален фокус поставяме върху ромската общност и младежите в риск, като работим за тяхната защита, овластяване и по-добро бъдеще.
