As a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a LIFESTEPS Weight Management Program Leader, Arlene MacGuinness believes that food and nutrition play a pivotal role in disease-prevention and adding years to your life and life to your years. She has had the opportunity to assist numerous individuals, sports clubs, companies and other organizations to translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living and optimal health and performance. She believes that when an individual reaches their optimum level of wellness and functional capability, everyone benefits. As a trained Wellness Coach and Intuitive Eating Counselor, Arlene strongly believes that empowering individuals to rise above the barriers to good health is not a matter of simply telling them what they need to do to get there, but it is more about helping them to discover their internal motivators that will result in sustained healthy behaviors and lasting changes in mindset. She strives to assist her clients to create a healthy relationship with food, mind and body. Arlene is an experienced public speaker having presented to large public forums for over 10 years. Food is not boring, and she strongly feels that learning about it shouldn’t be either. An educator at heart, her presentations are dynamic and interactive and designed for maximum take-home value. As a member of a number of overseas associations, including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Dietitians of Canada, Arlene has access to a wealth of resources, and she thoroughly enjoys sharing this knowledge and expertise with her participants. As a Bermudian and a mother of two, she is very concerned about the escalating healthcare costs in Bermuda and she strives to be part of the solution. Arlene has recently completed her certification in Integrative and Functional Medical Nutrition Therapy (IFMNT) which is a leading-edge, evidence-based, and comprehensive case based approach to nutrition care that can significantly improve client health outcomes. This emerging medical nutrition model, which focuses on each of our biochemical individuality, combines the very best of modern science, clinical wisdom and critical thinking and is being driven by increasing consumer demand, advancing technology and the changing healthcare landscape.
