Posted originally by Dr. Diwan - RFA of BVN is my favorite procedure for faster and longer lasting pain relief in patients with vertebrogenic pain. However, it does not prevent progressive degeneration of endplates leading to segmental instability. But when it is combined with the subchondral and intradiscal injections of Bone Marrow derived MSCs, it can heal the endplates with Modic changes, prevent the segmental spondylolisthesis and potentially improve nutrients diffusion to discs, and expedite regeneration of the discs. It is a revolutionary approach that will change the management degenerative spine with Biologics. We are close to finishing the Pilot Study, but anecdotally, very encouraging outcomes! Stay tuned!!

Dr. Annie Pinto had the privilege of attending and presenting at the recent Docs for Dinner event hosted by Bermuda Health Care. In collaboration with Liana Nanang Omodele, she delivered a presentation on the application of pain medicine techniques in addressing mental health conditions, with a focus on stellate ganglion blocks and ketamine infusions. It was an excellent opportunity to share emerging insights and engage with dedicated professionals in the field.

POSTPONED: We’re excited to introduce our Autologous Cell Therapy including Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) therapy alongside our established Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) program for spinal conditions at BPRC. 🩶

Dr. Annie Pinto will welcome Dr. Sudhir Diwan, a world-renowned expert and leader in advancing this technology, to Bermuda for a office visit on October 2nd and 3rd, 2025, during which they will collaborate on the initial treatments. For patients with low back pain from degenerative disc disease or persistent postoperative pain, intradiscal injections may help reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and improve function.

Autologous Cell Therapy, including methods such as Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) or Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), is an option that may support tissue healing and function. Intradiscal therapy is increasingly regarded as a potential alternative to spinal fusion for select patients with degenerative disc disease.
