Today, we pause to honour the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our freedom. Their courage reminds us of the strength that lives within community, compassion, and resilience. As we remember their legacy, may we also take a moment to check in—with ourselves, our families, and our neighbours. Because remembrance is not only about the past—it’s about how we care for one another today.

So, what is the No. 1 snack for weight loss?
The answer is hummus. In a 2020 study in The Journal of Nutrition, people who ate an afternoon snack of hummus and pretzels reported less hunger than when they munched on a granola bar (both were 240 calories). The hummus was such a potent appetite suppressant that it even helped the volunteers snack less later in the evening, reducing their overall daily intake by 120 calories compared to when they ate the granola bars. Even though hummus has lots of great things going for it, you’ll want to pay close attention to what you use to scoop it up. For better satiety and nutrition, go with veggie-based dippers like red pepper strips, sliced cucumbers, baby carrots or radishes and limit the highly processed pita chips. However, if you can’t imagine hummus without some bread, slather some on a whole-wheat mini pita.

How Does the Pituitary Gland Affect Your Health? The pituitary gland may be small — about the size of a pea — but it has a big job! Here’s how it keeps your body in balance:
🩸 Regulates hormones that affect metabolism, thyroid function, and stress.
🧬 Supports growth and reproductive function.
💧 Controls water and salt balance through hormone signaling.
😴 Impacts energy and mood through adrenal and thyroid hormones.

When it’s not functioning properly, it can cause issues like unexplained fatigue, mood changes, infertility, or abnormal growth.

Obesity can impact both your physical health and your mental health. You may be unsure of where to begin, but taking steps now to manage your health can prevent you from the complications listed above. Losing as little as 5% of your body weight can lower your risk for several health conditions, including heart disease and type 2 diabetes. A combination of diet and exercise can help you lose weight slowly over time — the key is consistency. To discuss other treatment options, talk with your doctor.
