🎯Five intraoral scanners (IOSs) were used to directly scan a crown preparation model. The resulting IOSs files were compared to those obtained from scanning impressions and working models using extraoral scanner (EOS). The accuracy achieved by IOSs was found to be higher than that of EOS. However, the clinical differences among the five IOSs were minimal. In the absence of IOS, scanning the working model is recommended over scanning the impression.

🎯The present study showed that it doesn’t really matter whether patients use clear aligners or braces—their cooperation levels were pretty much the same during the first 12 months of treatment. Age and gender didn’t make a difference in cooperation levels either in this period evaluated. This highlights the importance of regular follow-ups to keep patients motivated, regardless of the appliance used.

🎯This study shows that Honeybee Venom really works against tongue cancer cells! It stops them from growing, moving around, and even enables their self-destruction. This is super exciting because it means bee venom could be a game-changer in treating this tough cancer.

🎯This study showed that dealcoholized red wine (DRW) reduced periapical lesion size and improved antioxidant status in rats with apical periodontitis. DRW increased glutathione levels and maintained healthy red blood cell parameters, unlike alcohol, which worsened outcomes. It also lowered lymphocyte counts, suggesting an anti-inflammatory effect. These results highlight DRW’s potential to modulate inflammation and oxidative stress.

Can your saliva and blood tell how severe your gum disease is?

🎯This study shows that salivary IL-1β, when analyzed with AI, can accurately grade
periodontitis. This opens the door to simple, non-invasive tools that could transform
periodontal diagnosis and monitoring.

🎯This study explored the factors that influence how well individuals with type 2 diabetes and periodontitis respond to periodontal treatment. Using machine learning, researchers analyzed clinical trial data and compared several models - Random Forest stood out with strong accuracy and predictive performance. The findings showed that patients with better baseline health, including lower HbA1c levels, shallower periodontal pockets, and less attachment loss, had more favorable outcomes after six months. In essence, a combination of periodontal status, metabolic control, and demographic characteristics can help predict treatment response. These insights could support more personalized and effective dental care strategies.

🎯The fine balance of bone metabolism and repair can be affected by systemic disorders and several medications, that alone or combined are able to act with beneficial therapeutic purposes, or to cause important disturbances in bone balance. Dexamethasone and zoledronate are some classical example of the drugs that directly influence bone metabolism. However, modifications in the protocol administration can lead to different responses, as observed in the present in vivo model.

🎯Children without MIH were compared to those with mild and severe MIH (a type dental enamel malformation), to see how MIH affects tooth sensitivity, anxiety, and self-esteem. The results showed that the more severe the MIH, the more tooth pain and concern about how their teeth look. Self-esteem took a bigger hit in severe cases, even though anxiety stayed about the same. This shows MIH is more than just a tooth issue — it really impacts kids’ well-being.

🎯Macrophage polarization is temporally modulated according to the stage of PL progression and could be a therapeutic target. Gene expression (qRT-PCR) and cytokine profiles (Luminex) match the microscopic evolution of the PL.
