Alexandre Cruzeiro, M.D., is a neurosurgeon specializing in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. His clinical focus includes Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, psychiatric disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression, chronic pain, dementia, epilepsy, spinal cord injury, cerebrovascular disorders, brain and spinal tumors. Dr. Cruzeiro received his medical degree from Souza Marques School of Medicine in 1997. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Bonsucesso General Hospital. His main research and clinical interests lie in the field of the neurosurgical treatment of brain and spinal tumors, cerebrovascular disorders, spine diseases and conditions, movement disorders, chronic pain, epilepsy. Dr. Cruzeiro’s neurosurgical expertise includes cerebrovascular disorders, brain and spinal tumors, spinal diseases, neurosurgical management of movement disorders (DBS and spasticity management), epilepsy (definitive resections, diagnostic implants, lesioning, and palliative management through devices), and complex pain conditions (eg. cancer pain, brachial plexus injury, stroke, trigeminal neuralgia, or other trauma induced pain).
