WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN?

In computer science, the word IP simply mean: "Internet Protocol". A set of rules governing the format of data sent over the internet or other network. A codified guideline that allows data to be transmitted successfully.

In one sentence, Body IP as a slang in IFÁ practice simply mean "Àkóṣe Ifá". So how did the word come to being?

People have discovered that certain aspect in Ifá is similar to coding and programming in computer science. When we prepare Àkóṣe Ifá, we do not just burn leaves and animal together. After all the processing, a verbal programming is done. The specific Odù ifá that would activate the specific work will be imprinted on the IFÁ tray and chanted on the soap or powder or any hard copy of the processed work.

Àkóṣe Ifá is different from regular charm or amulets because it is processed by a set of rules and codes that must be chanted verbally to activate the hard copy of the spiritual work. Oògùn (charm) and Àkóṣe Ifá (Body IP) are quite different because anyone can prepare Oògùn, but it only takes a very competent Babaláwo to prepare Àkóṣe Ifá. Anyone can operate a computer, but only a computer programmer can write and crack a programming code.

Body IP (Àkóṣe Ifá) is more effective, powerful and last a life time more than Oògùn (regular charm and amulets) because Àkóṣe Ifá is programmed to work with and elevate the users destiny. It is a sort of system upgrade or reprogramming in computer science.

We are all born to enjoy this life, but some might have lost their shine in one way or the other. That is the reason why Body IP (Àkóṣe) is prepared in IFÁ to level the user in question up.

Receiving the first hand of Orunmila

This is a ritual that is usually performed before being initiated into Ifa, even if it is not compulsory to have the Initiation: this depends on what a person chose to be or, better, on the Destiny of the person.

A future priest or priestess will receive the Ifa shrine (the first hand of Orunmila) by having Isefa, which means he or she is having their personal Ifa to worship until they will pass through Itefa (initiation), when Ifa will reveal them a new Odu that will be their Destiny for the rest of their life.

Receiving the hand of Orunmila means to receive the sacred palm nuts (Ikin) that represent Orunmila/Ifa and to receive a temporary Odu – sign of Destiny; it will be revealed the personal Irunmole, the prohibitions (taboo), how to walk the path in order to start living a better life.

The one who is in possess of the Ifa shrine must be worshipping it every Ose Ifa (day of Ifa) with chants chosen from the personal Odu, by offering obi or orogbo, water, food, and praying.
Ifa is always guiding us and listening to our prayers and for the one who worship Ifa nothing is impossible to achieve.

Sometimes it is revealed from the divination that the person need to receive Ifa or another Irunmole shrine in order to save their life or achieve success, to have a child, to have a wife or husband, to obtain a job, to obtain spiritual power and knowledge and so on.

Ebo is the son of Orunmila.
Orunmila created Ebo for this Earth to solve the problems of humans.

Ebo is working with many things in this world.
Ebo is working closely with the Iyami and Esu.
The entity with which Ebo works depends on what is prescribed by ifa. For example, Ifa can ask Ebo to work with Obatala or Obaluaye .
There are many different types of Ebo.
There are Ebo for Esu, for Ogun there is Ebo for blessings, money or love.There is also Ebo which will cause trouble for an adversary.Ebo works with an individual spirit.There are positive and negative aspects to Ebo.
Ebo has his own time and it is for a practiced babalawo to have fun. Some Ebo should be taken in the morning, some in the afternoon and some at midnight. Some Ebo can not be seen by the eyes. Sometimes the same Ebo should be made periodically.
Every Ifa priest should do Ebo. Ebo is the most important tool for a babalawo. Anyone who loves Orisa or any Irunmole should do Ebo.
