At Sunrise Rehab our primary focus for those who come to us early on after the stroke incident is to rehabilitate them by helping them to use their arm functionally again as well as increase their participation in their life roles and interests. For those who may have come to us month or years after their stroke we might first have to focus on decreasing the effects of the stroke such as spasticity or learned non use then move on to into the rehabilitation phase.

Others focus on what we call compensatory strategies like teaching you to rely on your strong hand and leg while mostly ignoring the weak side.
