I attended the official launch of a National Rehab & Assistive Technology Strategic Plan, launched during National Rehabilitation Awareness Week here in The Bahamas. Prior to this, a systematic survey was conducted in conjunction with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to identify areas for improvement. As there are certainly gaps here in The Bahamas regarding rehab services (including audiology), I am hopeful that this plan allows us to drastically improve continuity of care and increase access over time. It was great to network with other rehab professionals and stakeholders while sharing ideas to help improve this invaluable area of healthcare.
