Unemployment rates for people with disabilities are higher than for people without disabilities in every society. One of the largest barriers for Caribbean youth with disabilities is societal misconceptions. For instance, employers may be more accepting of those with physical disabilities rather than those with developmental disabilities. This perception requires attention and advocacy-related intervention on behalf of the youth.
