Pink eye happens when the thin, clear tissue covering the eye becomes inflamed, making the eye look red and sometimes feel itchy, watery, or sticky.

Dry eye syndrome is a common, often chronic condition where eyes do not produce enough tears or tears evaporate too quickly, leading ironically to watery eyes/reflex tearing, irritation, stinging, burning, and blurred vision. It can be caused by aging, screen time, environmental factors, or underlying health conditions. Treatments include lubricating eye drops, lifestyle adjustments, and prescription medications.

Two weeks in and the competition is REAL! 👟

We’re seeing 50K step power days, rising challengers, and serious leaderboard movement in the 9th Annual BRECS 100-Day Step Challenge.

51,000 steps in a day is roughly 25 miles of walking — that’s almost the distance from Nassau to North Eleuthera!”

Sharon went beast mode. 😄

The question now is…
Who’s making their move before Day 25? 🔥

❤️

🌟 BRECS 100-Day Steps Challenge

Day 7 Results — One Week In!

The numbers after just one week are incredible!

👟 10 Step Warriors have already crossed 20,000 steps in a single day
💪 37 participants reached the 10K gold standard for daily movement
🏃 Our leader logged an amazing 51,121 steps — nearly a full marathon in one day!

And the leaderboard is already heating up…

The race from 3rd through 8th place is extremely tight, which means one big walking day could completely shake up the standings.

That’s what makes this challenge fun.

But the real win is what we’re doing together as a community:

❤️ improving heart health
👁 protecting vision
🧠 boosting mental wellness
💪 building healthy habits

And remember…

We are only 7 days into a 100-day journey.

Imagine where we’ll be by Day 50.

Dr. Dawn Russell-Hermanns logged 24,310 steps today, placing #7 among the Step Warriors.

That’s over 11 miles of walking in one day.

This challenge isn’t just something we’re hosting —
we’re stepping right alongside you.

Keep stepping everyone! 👟🔥

It’s that time of year again and we are excited again to be gearing up for the 9th annual BRECS Steps Challenge.
This challenge is an idea birthed to Dr. Dawn Russell-Hermanns 9 years ago to encourage her patients to be more active and intentional about their health after seeing so many cases of severe Diabetic eye disease. The overall goal is to obtain One million steps by obtaining 10,000 steps a day for 100 days!!! This year- we are happy to introduce to our challenge the Step Up app to help submit and manage our data on the recommendation of Dr. Cindy Dorsett. We have so many things planned and we welcome Balance and Bloom collective coach Dr. Tamara Moss who will be collaborating with us and bringing new activities to make this years challenge even more exciting and exhilarating than ones before !
The countdown is on- March 1st is fast approaching! Get your pedometers and your feet in gear! Let’s Go!!

Join the “BRECS’ 9th ANNUAL STEPS CHALLENGE- 2026” group on StepUp, a fun step challenge app.
