One of the first questions that we encounter as an Orthodontist is “Why braces or why go for Orthodontic treatment”?

At the outset, I must highlight that “Oral health is a window into your overall or general health”. Orthodontic treatment helps ensure proper function of teeth and create healthy smiles. Having a well aligned teeth with beautiful smile relates to better self esteem and much positive outlook towards life hence improving the overall quality of life. Besides looking and feeling great, other benefits of getting braces include achieving a good bite which helps to bite and chew well. Having a crooked teeth are a hassle or much harder to clean or maintain good hygiene. So braces can lessen the incidence of dental decay and potential gum problems in future thereby preserving an intact dentition for much longer duration in life. In some instances, braces can improve the quality of speech and pronunciations as well.
