Though our wishes come a little late, we extend our heartfelt prayers for her continued good health, happiness, and long life.
"BIRTHDAY REFLECTION: A GRATITUDE and GIVING
Birthdays have always been a time for reflection, a moment to pause and look back on the journey of life, the blessings received, the challenges overcome, and the people and systems that have supported me along the way.
This year, as I celebrate another year of life, I have chosen to make a small contribution to the Bhutan Health Trust Fund. I believe that it is the most meaningful way to give back to a system that has given me so much.
I was born safely in Bhutan because my mother had access to free, quality healthcare services. This was possible because of the visionary leadership of His Majesty the Kings of Bhutan ๐ง๐น and the unwavering commitment of the Royal Government of Bhutan, through the Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan, in pioneering primary health care as the foundation for achieving universal health coverage. This approach ensured that my mother and countless mothers and children across the country could access the care they needed without financial hardship.
As I grew up, I could truly appreciate how free, accessible, and quality healthcare, particularly maternal, neonatal, and child health services, including vaccinations is not merely a policy but a lifeline. It allows families like mine to raise children in health and dignity. The establishment of the Bhutan Health Trust Fund to ensure sustainable domestic financing for essential medicines and vaccines stands as a testament to Bhutanโs foresight and commitment to long-term health security, something many nations still strive to achieve.
Beyond policies and systems, it is the compassion and dedication of health workers that I hold closest to my heart, both personally and professionally. They are the ones who stand at the forefront serving with resilience, kindness, and humanity.
Today, as I celebrate my birthday, I do so with gratitude for life, for love, for the healthcare system that has protected me, and for the people who have walked this journey with me. My small donation is a token of appreciation for all that I have received and a hope that future generations will continue to benefit from Bhutanโs unique and visionary approach to health and well-being ๐"
