DRUKNESE INSIGHTS
Druk-Yul (Bhutan) by name is one of the countries in the world that have experienced socio-economic and political changes over the last few decades. Located in the eastern Himalayas, Bhutan is one of the tiny nations in Asia. Bhutan shares borders with great China in the north and India in the east, west, and south. We are surviving as a landlocked nation and thriving socially,
politically, and indeed economically. Small is just by size, it has a rich and unique culture and traditions that have passed down from our forefathers. The ways we live, the foods we eat, the dresses we wear, the languages we speak, the set of etiquette we follow are the best examples of being unique in nature. Bhutan has emerged as a sovereign nation ever since recorded history. To bring these features of uniqueness in the light such as the photographs, stories, poems, and so on, I started 'page' as BHUTAN DEN’S PHOTOGRAPHY in the year 2017. When I look back, sharing photographs alone isn’t serving the real purpose of the page. With so many consultations, I came with a new name DRUKNESE INSIGHTS. ‘DRUK’ means Bhutan, ‘NESE’ is a suffix from ‘BhutaNESE’, when combined together is ‘Druknese’ which means ‘Bhutanese’. According to the Compact Oxford English Dictionary (South Asian Edition 2012), ‘Insights’ is the ability to see and understand the truth about someone or something. Therefore, ‘Druknese Insights’ will bring various topics to the light through articles (histories, stories, poems, etc...), photographs, and video clips. I will various articles dedicated to the King(s), the country, and the people’s life stories on the page to create a vast expanse of information library.
