The Department of Industry has issued in-principle approval to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to establish a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) company in Bhutan. This development reflects Bhutan’s continued efforts to attract reputable global firms, strengthen the ICT sector, promote digital transformation, and create employment opportunities for Bhutanese professionals.

This milestone underscores the Royal Government of Bhutan’s commitment to fostering a conducive and transparent investment environment.

According to the filing, "The new TCS unit will support the growing demand for digital transformation in Bhutan and foster local talent by offering employment and training, enhancing the nation’s human capital growth."

Wrapping Up the 5th Batch of the FDI Rules and Regulations 2025 Advocacy Workshop

We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 5th batch of the FDI Rules and Regulations 2025 Advocacy Workshop, which was held today. This day-long session brought together established FDIs, providing in-depth insights into key reforms and the updated regulations.

We were honored to have esteemed representatives from the Royal Monetary Authority, the Corporate Regulatory Authority, and colleagues from the Department of Industry, all contributing to a comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements under respective agencies.

A big thank you to all the participants for your active engagement, and to our distinguished partners for sharing your expertise. Together, we are strengthening the foundation for a more robust and transparent FDI landscape.

Project Proposal Review in Progress!

Thank you for your participation and for submitting the project proposals. The Review Committee is currently evaluating all submitted proposals. Stay tuned. We will be notifying applicants as soon as the evaluation is complete.

Invest Bhutan, Department of Industry team met with the Indian Chamber of Commerce Delegation on September 2, 2025. The delegation is in Bhutan for 5-days visit mainly exploring investment, trade, and tourism prospects.

Key discussions centered on why Bhutan is an attractive destination for investment, with interest shown in hospitality, IT/ITES, air transport services, and multi-speciality hospitals. The delegation raised questions on taxation, loans, land, interest rates, and how Invest Bhutan supports foreign investors.

Our team provided insights into the FDI Rules and Regulations 2025, sector-specific guidelines, fiscal incentives, financing, and facilitation services, laying the groundwork for future collaboration.

A productive session with follow-up communications underway.

The workshop was attended by potential local partners, business representatives, service providers, and other industry stakeholders.
