Established in April 2017, Gaborone Fertility Clinic is a 100% citizen owned clinic that provides novel assisted reproductive technology(ART) services in Botswana, commonly known as in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Our aim is to provide a critical service to the community which to date has only been accessible in South Africa.
The objective of the clinic is to use assisted reproductive technology to help infertile couples realise their erstwhile dreams of procreation, in the process, restoring dignity, peace and tranquillity in their homes.
Meet Our Fertility Specialist
The Clinic success is reliant on the managerial and clinical expertise of its fertility specialist, Dr Vincent Molelekwa. Dr Molelekwa graduated from Moeng College in 1989 and did his 1 year of pre-entry science course in UB in 1991. He then did a 2 year Bachelor of Science bridge course before proceeding to study medicine in the university college Dublin(Ireland) where he graduated in 1999 with 4 degrees(MB-Bachelor of Medicine, B*h- Bachelor of Surgery, BAO- Bachelor of Obstetrics, BMedSc-Bachelor of Medical sciences). He went on to do specialisation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and got his memberships with the Royal college of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in UK (DRCOG – diploma of the Royal College of obstetrics and Gynaecologist (2003), MRCOG – Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist – 2006) and the Royal college of Physicians of Ireland(MRCPI) in 2006.
Following his admission in the respective royal colleges as a specialist Dr Molelekwa returned to Botswana where he served as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Princess Marina Hospital from August 2007 to February 2014. In January 2009 he was appointed as Princess Marina Hospital Clinical Director and in October the same year he was appointed as Princess Marina Hospital Superintendent. In March 2013 whilst still hospital Superintendent, Dr Molelekwa was appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health. He served in both positions until February 2014 when he left to pursue Subspecialty training in Fertility Medicine in Tygerberg Hospital, University of Stellenbosch under Professor Thinus Kruger. Dr Molelekwa graduated with a Fellowship in Fertility Medicine in 2016 and Master of Philosophy (MSc) in Fertility Medicine in 2018. Dr Molelekwa has double qualifications in minimal access surgery (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery) with special interest in endometriosis and fibroid surgery(Bachelor In Endoscopic Surgery(ESGE + The Academy) – Nov 2016). Following completion of subspecialty training in fertility medicine, the doctor returned to serve as head of department of obstetrics and gynaecology in Princess Marina Hospital from 2006 to March 2017 when he left to establish fertility medicine as a private super specialist.
Dr Molelekwa is an established academic who co-authored Chapter 4, Page 52, Embryology, in: Clinical Gynaecology, 5thEdition, 2016. JUTA and Co., Cape Town, South Africa, a text book used by Stellenbosch medical students.
During his medical school years, Dr Molelekwa underwent training as a beauty consultant for which he hold a diploma(1994) with competencies in perfume, makeup and skincare. He is a competent mesotherapist with special interest in lipolysis, hair regrowth and skin rejuvenation. Dr Molelekwa has pioneered the Leech Skin Therapy, which is the administration of mesotherapy cocktails, hyaluronic acid and autologous conditioned plasma administered at specific depths in a triple layer formation using a mesotherapy gun. He also has special interest in aesthetic gynaecology for which he has competencies in vaginal rejuvenation, vaginoplasty and related treatments. He also has special interest and competencies in female sexual dysfunction and its management.
