Courtesy Engagement between Trans-Kalahari Corridor and BVI

On 13 February 2026, the Trans-Kalahari Corridor (TKC) and the Botswana Vaccine Institute (BVI) held a brief courtesy engagement when the BVI delegation was in Namibia, underscoring the critical link between efficient regional transport and animal health security.

As a pivotal artery in Southern Africa, the TKC connects Walvis Bay on the Atlantic through Botswana to Johannesburg and further to Maputo on the Indian Ocean, supporting economic growth, industrial collaboration, and vibrant cross-border trade through its integrated infrastructure.

For BVI, this engagement was an opportunity to further appreciate the indispensable role that the TKC play in facilitating the swift, safe movement of goods, including essential vaccines, and possible non-tariff barriers, including disease outbreaks and response mechanisms in place.
