Reduce fat intake!!

Researchers studied a plant-based, low-fat diet versus an animal-based, ketogenic diet for weight loss. The participants were randomized to one of the diets for two weeks, then they switched to the other for another two weeks.
What happened to their weight?

➡️ If you were to look only at the scale, it would appear that the low-carb diet wins when it comes to losing body weight. But the study participants were actually mostly losing fat-free mass, like water weight and muscle.

➡️ Despite eating more protein on the keto diet than when they were on the plant-based diet, participants were losing muscle mass on the keto-diet.

➡️ On a low-fat, plant-based diet, participants actually lost body fat, whereas their fat-free mass (like muscle) was relatively preserved.

What about a ketogenic diet for diabetes?

Spoiler alert: A true diabetes reversal diet, with more than 300 grams of carbs a day, was practically the opposite of a ketogenic diet.
