Choppies has donated Five 10,000 liters Water Tanks to the Bakwena community in an effort to help alleviate acute water shortage in the area. The presentation was done on the 17th April 2019 to Kgosi Kgari Sechele III at a ceremony held at the main Kgotla i n Molepolole last week. The water tanks will be placed at strategic places by the office of Kgosi Kgolo in consultation with key stakeholders i n the
Community. Water Utilities Corporation will be responsible for refilling the water tanks periodically.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Molepolole, Choppies' Public Relations and Communications Consultant Mr. Jacob Sesinyi said, •'We are fully aware that the government of Botswana and Water U tilities Corporation are working on a long term solution for this water challenge as recently
communicated by the CEO of WUC at this Kgotla. However we feel privileged and fully humbled to be able to assist i n the interim ." He added that once the tanks have been allocated their respective areas, Choppies will construct the bases on which the tanks will be placed.
A representative from Water Utilities Corporation, Mr. Seabe Mabua, added "The water tanks that have been donated by Choppies will join 26 other water tanks that have been placed in parts of Molepolole that have been affected by the water shortages:' The addition of the 5 tanks will bring the total number of tanks to 31.
Speaking at the handover of the Water Tanks, Kgosi Kgolo of Bakwena, Kgosi Kgari Sechele Ill thanked Choppies for its commitment to the people of Molepolole during their time of need. He commended the company for the compassion it has demonstrated over the years through its other Corporate Social Responsi bility initiatives, add ing that it his hope that this will not be the last time Choppies comes to the aid of the community.
