Lyra Botswana joins our nation in mourning the passing of the third President of Botswana, His Excellency Dr. Festus Gontebanye Mogae.

He will be fondly remembered for steering Botswana’s economy through a strong period of fiscal discipline, taking an unusually direct and early stance against HIV/AIDS, and maintaining Botswana’s reputation for democratic stability and peaceful transitions of power.

At Lyra Botswana, we especially honour his courageous leadership in championing health, wellbeing, and human dignity during one of the most difficult public health crises of our time. His efforts to confront HIV/AIDS openly helped challenge stigma, encourage compassion, and promote a culture of inclusion, care, and collective responsibility across Botswana.

President Mogae understood that national progress is deeply connected to the wellbeing of people — physically, mentally, socially, and economically. His legacy continues to inspire conversations around wellness, resilience, empathy, and people-centred leadership.

May he rest in peace. Robala ka kagiso, Rre Mogae. 🕊️🤍🇧🇼

We proudly celebrate Dr. Onalethata Johnson for receiving the Mental Health & Psychosocial Safety Advocate Award at the HERQ 2026 Impact Awards Botswana.

At Lyra Botswana, we see firsthand the conversations, care, advocacy, and consistent effort that go into creating healthier workplaces and supporting people beyond just performance. This recognition reflects work that has genuinely touched lives and pushed the conversation around mental health and psychosocial safety forward in Botswana.

Congratulations Dr. OJ. Your passion for people continues to inspire all of us at Lyra Botswana. A truly well-deserved moment. 👏

A workplace can meet every safety requirement on paper and still struggle with disengagement, stress, poor morale, and silent exhaustion.
As we commemorate the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, organisations must continue expanding the conversation around safety to include both physical and mental wellbeing.

Work doesn’t always slow down. But stress doesn’t have to take over.

As the week builds, small pressures can quietly turn into burnout if they’re not addressed early. The key is knowing how to manage it before it manages you.
