On the 4th of July 2025, Eyelight Optometrists participated in the Stanbic Gaborone Golf Club Tournament, where the team led a dedicated vision screening initiative as part of the event’s broader wellness and community outreach efforts.

Held at the Gaborone Golf Club, the tournament brought together golf enthusiasts, professionals, and corporate stakeholders. As part of the day’s activities, Eyelight Optometrists offered free on-site eye screenings, emphasizing the importance of early detection and regular vision checks.

The screening campaign was anchored on a vital global health message: over 90% of blindness cases are preventable if diagnosed and treated in time. By engaging participants in these screenings, Eyelight Optometrists aimed to raise awareness around common vision issues and the urgent need for proactive eye care—even among those who may not exhibit immediate symptoms.

This participation reflects Eyelight’s ongoing commitment to making quality eye care accessible in diverse settings while reinforcing its role as a trusted community health partner. Through such initiatives, Eyelight continues to advocate for a future where preventable blindness is significantly reduced through early intervention and public education.

On June 30, 2025, Eyelight Optometrists participated in the Tlokweng Pothole Fill-up Project — a meaningful and community-driven initiative led by the Gaborone Central Lions Club in partnership with the Boitekanelo College Leo Club. The project sought to address the deteriorating road infrastructure caused by seasonal flooding, directly tackling a critical safety concern for the local community.

The event was honoured by the presence of distinguished leaders and stakeholders, including the Kgosi, Member of Parliament, local councillors, the District Governor, Council Chairperson, Council Secretary, Gaborone Central Lions Club President, Leo Club President, as well as members of the Lions and Leos. Representatives from both Greater Gaborone and Eyelight Optometrists were also present and engaged fully in the day’s activities.
As an official sponsor of the Lions Club of Greater Gaborone, Eyelight Optometrists reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to the safety, health, and dignity of the communities it serves. While the organisation continues to provide high-quality vision care, its role in this initiative reflects a broader ethos of corporate social responsibility — one grounded in service, sustainability, and meaningful community upliftment.
Through this act of collaboration and care, Eyelight Optometrists once again demonstrates that its mission reaches far beyond the consultation room. With humility and a sincere spirit of service, the team stands proudly beside fellow community champions in driving real change on the ground.
Special thanks to all who made this initiative possible — from our leaders to every volunteer — for their dedication, unity, and unwavering commitment to public good.
