Join us at the University of Botswana_Official from 18th–19th April 2026 for the WSDC Botswana National Debate Team Selection Tournament, where the Top 30 debaters in the country go head-to-head for the ultimate honor: representing Botswana at the World Schools Debating Championship in Nairobi, Kenya.

Expect high level argumentation, sharp rebuttals, and powerful speeches as the nation’s finest young minds rise to the occasion. Featuring top schools including Enko Botho, Maru-a-Pula School, The Learning Centre School, Phakalane English Medium Schools, Mater Spei College, Naledi Senior School, St Joseph’s College, Lotsane Senior, Kwena Sereto CJSS, and Iphuteng CJSS.

Following highly competitive rounds of national trials, we are proud to announce the exceptional debaters who will progress to the next stage of the WSDC Botswana National Debate Team selection process, which is an intensive selection camp scheduled for the 17th to 19th April 2026.

From this group, only 5 will ultimately be selected to represent Botswana at the World Schools Debating Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, taking place from the 14th to 24th July 2026.

We would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Toshiba Botswana and University of Botswana_Official for their invaluable support in advancing oratory development in Botswana. Your commitment is helping shape the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and changemakers.

Road to Kenya 🇰🇪 | Debate Trials Day 1

The journey has officially begun. Yesterday marked our first round of debate trials as we start the selection process for the team that will represent the WSDC Botswana National Debate Team at the World Schools Debating Championships which will be held in Nairobi Kenya this July.

This first batch captures the team moments and briefing session, where strategies start forming, nerves settle in, and the real work begins. Every great performance starts with preparation.

The wait is over. Today, Gaborone becomes the arena of ideas as the WSDC Botswana National Debate Team Trials officially kick off.

Over 300 of the country’s brightest young debaters have stepped forward… but in the end only 5 will rise to earn the honour of representing Botswana on the global stage at the World Schools Debate Championship which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya.

Arguments will clash.
Ideas will ignite.
Voices will rise.

And from this intense journey, starting today in Gaborone and continuing next week in Palapye a team of champions will emerge.

🎤 300 registered.
⚡ Countless brilliant arguments.
🇧🇼 Only 5 will wear the national colours.

Let the battle of minds begin.

The just ended public speaking workshop we hosted in collaboration with the University of Botswana Work Camps Association, was a beautiful session to join. It wasn’t just about learning how to speak well, it was about finding courage, trusting one’s voice, and showing up authentically.

We watched hesitation turn into confidence, silence turn into expression, and fear turn into growth. Each contribution, each question, each brave step forward reminded us that when young people are given the right space, their potential speaks for itself.

We are grateful for everyone who was part of this journey. This is the work. This is the impact.
