Episode 7:Young, Black & Gifted

A first for me, A heavy laden...
I have come a long way since my first short film under my production Film garden.Its name is a tribute to my film students and my contribution towards linking a reflection of what it means to cultivate characters until mastery by staying on course. A fair expectation must I add, hence the agency's growth.

Right from my early moon dancing days during my childhood to partipating in associative plays in my hood I have always perceived myself as an artist.This aspirations of mine earned me a tag "mosasankegi" in my household.Keeping a normal day job was out of question credit to how varied my call times and location shoots were on most days.

I gave zero time to myself and filled my days with distractions thinking I was building and stacking. Alas, I quit working.I had thought thriving was going to come from a well established production company made of suited team mates plus a good paycheck. However what I learnt is that it is down in the mess that things get good.It was such a blessing to find myself in the middle of nothing giving and be able to found my "Eden."

With insistence and proving myself, my grandmother gave me her backroom to hold my acting classes. Thereafter my friends and supporters registered and the word spread. I am here now; sowing a Tyler Perry seed so that the young talent coming after me can be fairly treated and paid as per the industry rate. Likewise they should also celebrate their handiwork .

For future projects, I have been looking into collaborating with young people, the future of our industry is in their dated ideas.Shewww, thankfully I am not a contrarian our partnership can work.Us coming together to create a market place for films told in our ethnolect is what I envision for my film garden. It is my resolve for hedging talent management suistainably.

Some few years back I played Ditiro, commonly known as 'DT' in Mareledi,he was my first big break and his personality is not far from that of Evangelist Keoagile. He was a jokester whom everyone believed could turn any topic into a play, well ! so am I.Twenty years later eversince I started I am doing that only,nowadays I elaborate lies and truths eloquently. Experience produces that, class A.C.T.

Episode 6:The issue is not the breath of fire

Are you amongst the people who have always taken an irk when it comes to these collective siren sounds ? "The classic Q, structure fire and ambulance wave.There are deafening noises but their racketiness is evidence that mental hurriedness can be mandatory.

So if the goal is to be competent, it is achieved. Contrary to popular belief, consideration comes after urgency .For them it requires agility to save and redeem things. By now you should be following,I am talking about the fire department and its responsibility in rendering humanitarian services during natural disasters.

According to Tiro, fire emergencies vary according to seasons. Summer they mostly handle veld fires and road accidents resulting from rush hours during festivities. In winter they deal with housefires caused by heating appliances left unattended. As for spring and autumn they show up to relentless demands from the public due to negligence and any other influence i.e maternity calls, needing access to one's residence after loosing keys and so forth.All this misfortunes are not just altered to their season, there are factorial.

Inorder to determine how we will put out the fire we need to know the cause of the origin of the fire. We either suffocate it or cool it.During the exercise our concern is to minimize loss. So this should establish the importance of our office.

May 4th is fire service day for Botswana, "we celebrate our contribution to our localities." Due to a decline in financial aid to the fire department, we struggle to put out more publication about our program and how people can venture into this career path.For now we make use of this day to give our field the exposure it needs for interested job applicants.

Application requirements to be met is a, "Senior Secondary School certification" with an average pass on science,mathematics and english.Another route for entry "IF" all the subjects were below the pass performance is working under local government at any City Council and enrolling for inservice training.The two bodies work hand in hand and experience is marketable.

Episode 4: Art for Lunch

"Go botlhoko jang ga go sa spane !" Exactly. I worked really hard to ferret the recital from this laser focused hitmaker. It is through his ability and mother's blessings that he got propelled and slung into his future as the popularly known artist Eldee. Oh! boy was I not chuffed at his wits and humbleness during our interview. He knows what he is doing,all his realeses' have been dedicated to lobbying and sensetizing the youth particularly about how to avoid contention when you are launching yourself in order to maximize your talent hence the statements behind his lyrics.

"My first debut was at church, we did an item and that is how people got introduced to my sound." Lucky enough my audience knew how different my melody was and I was not coerced to do gospel. The experience was grand as I was raised in church. Foundation is a takeaway for me and maybe that is how I am still able to stand after countering betrayals and fake interest from people I had gotten close to who wanted to learn my principles and tactics in order to surpass me.We cannot legislate morality so be open to listening to advices and use them to yield corrections as you go about life,by so doing you will attract good representatives ;people who are genuinely invested in the craft.

I believe that is how I came across my current producer Soku and some of the local artists I had an opportunity to work with to mention a few (MOD [MMP family ],Frost Legato, Bafana Ba,Drippy klan,Jackalass,Dj Kenn, Ramisis,Twistrappz,Dallas The Rapper, Burumaan, Dj Carter,Thousand wordz) e.t.c. I previously worked with ;(Pjay,Architecture, FAT,Rulebizzy,Trk) as my producers. Quite a resume. Music is art and there are many layers to peel through,when I got started I just wanted to have a song out and a music video. After staying for so long in the business and having made losses and wins simultaneously I can say, "if you eliminate distractions you can succeed at this. "

To get off the tangent for a second, I have understood my assignment and role as a music artist and to each is own...

I do not know how to break this to you but art precedes clarity and understanding.I had moments and I still do were I do shows without getting a single penny and there are my proudest moments.A men's gift will make room for him but his talent is his ability to work on his craft consistently and continually to perfection and only people who are gifted get an opportunity to do something they love repeatedly.

Episode 3:GABANA'S SELF ACTUALIZING TALE

Sometimes what stands between us and self actualizing is the negative self perception and fear of failure but for this young lady, this was yet another hurdle that she chose to overcome in order to live her truth.

Hers' is a story of breaking out of her comfort zone akin to a beautiful butterfly bursting out of its cocoon.For her modeling was a means to defy her almost conceded shy nature and self condemnation she had.Modeling found her and bolstered her confidence, now she walks with her head held high.She affirms that she never imagined to set out on this journey, it was just the universe making chance and luck have a day together. However people would often compliment her physique, unbeknowingly there were directing her to a destination she shrugged against until a seed of love for the craft germinated within her.

She gave modeling, pageantry and runway a try and her self concept has since shown a positive progression .Although this is a journey wrought with challenges, she is discovering what it means to be a self driven young lady.From paying for her modeling classes, purchasing ball gowns or regalia for competitions and online campaigns, she is making strides as an independent young women breaking away from the constant support from her parents. She has not reached the pinnacle of where she plans to get and she is growing everyday.

There are no stop orders for self development and improvement in this journey called life and we must always leave a gap or space to do that which brings us B.O.I.T.U.M.E.L.O. Our identity lies in our sense of self recognition and the only way to truly know your own self, is if you give your best in knowing and taking lessons about yourself and using that self to build you.

A winning spirit speaks on victories. I was young when an incredulous relative incited to my parents that I could only open my eyes when I was indoors, much to my parents's dismay. We consulted with a doctor and it was discovered that I had Glaucoma and we started on treatment. In 2014 I decided to stop receiving treatment, my sight had gone for a toss, my eyes were pricked at for way to long and they were worsening.

Needless to say my true healing had began. Accepting my inability to see allowed me to do so much with my life. I worked on my confidence over the years and now I am an advocate for people living with blindness. I do so many social services, I am always seeking for platforms to network, socialize and break stereotypes about myths centered around disabilities.We are not insignificant, fact check; there are millions of us all over the world living boldly with blindness.

The public is always curious about our abilities, just like any other ordinary human being I tend to questions asked out of outmost respect and genuinety. Studying at Limkokwing Creative Arts Institute for a Degree in Journalism is an extension of my legacy as Boago. Education is a right that everybody deserves and I am thankful that my limitation pushed me into purpose.

Episode 1:Every Valley Has Its Peak

I have high hopes for myself, my journey to unlearning the habits I had self taught is a struggle but I am determined to push through to victory .My first puff was when I was in form one, I cannot recall which date to be precise but it followed throughout my tenure there and when I was doing my final year I was suspended after I was caught smoking in the school premises. When I returned back from the time I was excused, I started being disrespectful towards the teaching staff more especially the disciplinary committee, I now know they only wanted the best for me and I am eternally grateful for the efforts they made to straighten me up.

I left the town to move to the city and I was admitted in the same senior school as my brother in law who taught there and because of that I started to reform mainly because I was under his guidance and I felt a sense of responsibility to not let him down.I went on a smoking hiatus for the whole two years .

After form 5 I started working at a filling station and that is when I was reintroduced to ci******es till I started schooling at the University of Botswana. The use of ni****ne increased as the pressure from school work increased, however last year around August I joined a quitting program at school which is helping me to stop and through the support of my family and friends I have gotten to a point where I can go on for weeks without smoking a cigarette.

I hope I will stop soon.
