In adults, physical activity helps:

🔹 Prevent and manage noncommunicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer and diabetes
🔹 Reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety
🔹 Enhance brain health
🔹 Improve overall wellbeing

In children and adolescents, physical activity helps:

🔸 Promote bone health
🔸 Encourage healthy growth
🔸 Encourage development of muscle
🔸 Improve motor and cognitive development

🏃🏽 Any physical activity is better than none. Here’s how to get your physical activity levels up:

🤰🏽 Pregnant and postpartum women should get 150 minutes of physical activity per week.

🧔🏽‍♂️ Adults and older adults should get 150-300 minutes of physical activity per week.

🧒🏼 Children and adolescents should get 60 minutes of physical activity per day.

✏️ On Saturday I had the pleasure of having a successful, educational and fun workshop for parents and teachers on nutrition for their preschoolers! The aim of the workshop was for:

📍Child care providers can promote positive behaviors toward food and create a friendly eating environment to help children form lifelong healthy eating habits.

📍Provide a fun, resource for teaching kindergarteners about healthy food choices and physical activity.

📍Introduce preschool children to healthy eating habits with topics that include My healthy Plate, Food groups, Healthy Snacks, and more.
