We are a fully volunteer organization with a membership of 500+ persons. We are located in Belize City. Belize Assembly for Persons with Diverse Abilities (BAPDA)
The Belize Assembly for Persons with Diverse Abilities was formed September 2009, as a Belizean chartered Disabled Persons Organization as an organization whose main focus is to educate on Belize Assembly for Persons with Diverse Abilities and their rights, offer information for the support of Belize Assembly for Persons with Diverse Abilities and health services for Belize Assembly for Persons with Diverse Abilities outreach in offering several care services and assistances. At this time, BAPDA operates only in Belize City but has been contacted to offer assistance to persons with disabilities (PWD) outside the Belize City area. The Assembly was incorporated under the Laws of Belize in 2009 and became the only organization offering Belize Assembly for Persons with Diverse Abilities outreach, education and some services via partner agencies and organizations. BAPDA is a membership organization from which its Board of Directors is selected. Currently, members do not pay a membership fee annually but members are critical to the success of the organization via the volunteer services offered to the Society. While BAPDA does not own its property and headquarters, the organization does have office space afforded them and has temporary staffing that carries out its programs and activities. As such, its cadre of volunteer Board Members and general membership play a critical role for the success of the organization. The Board of Directors of BAPDA has ultimate responsibility for governance over all aspects of the organization as its central unit. Some of the BAPDA objectives are to offer services and work in the following areas:
• Education for general public and persons in the target population of PWDs
• Education for health professionals
• Counseling care services via referrals
• Emotional and technical support for Persons with Diverse Abilities members and their families
