Hey it’s August already!! I’ve taken some time off thanks to pushing super hard in the spring and early summer and feeling burn out closing in. But I wanted to say hi and let you know I’m looking forwards to a beautiful, flower filled end of summer and fall.

If you are new around here, my name is Pia and this flower farm is my project that gives me both joy and a sore back 🤪.
But seriously, the garden is more or less my therapy and it gives me so much more than I could have imagined.
Pictured with me is my crew, minus the fluffy butt dog who’s usually beside me outside. The chicken treats on the ground were too tempting for him for this photo.

I’ve been gardening for almost 15 years and selling blooms for 4, and I’m glad you’re here to enjoy all the beauty with me!

An ode to June, my favourite flower month. The very last stems of ranunculus, along with cottage garden favourites like snapdragons and sweet peas, as well as the star of June, garden roses, and in an overflowing abundance of scent and beauty.

And just like that, the ranunculus are done and gone for the year. Here are some of my favourite shots from this season.

A new to me ranunculus, known as a ponpon ranunculus, bred by . It’s slow to colour up, opening green, but then slowly shifting to these beautiful antique pinks and green. It adds a lot of textural interest in a bouquet!

This one is ponpon “Candy”. What do you think of it?

These Pink Hawaiian Coral peonies are 😍😍😍. I honestly can’t get enough of them!

Lilac season is nearly over, and I made sure I grabbed a huge armful of blooms to grace my kitchen before the rain comes. There’s something about an excessively large bunch of lilacs that just makes me happy, and this bicolour variety named “Sensation” certainly makes a statement!

Mother’s Day flower orders looking good! And I have extras available too for pickup this weekend! But first, some transparency:

Without hoop houses to grow crops in, I generally have very little blooming at this time of year, which is unfortunate because we all love to give beautiful flowers to our mamas! So some years I have made exceptions to my “farm grown only” in order to fill the requests that come in for Mother’s Day. So these blooms have been sourced from local BC greenhouses (with the exception of the eucalyptus) and I’ve been putting them together into beautiful bouquets for you!
Part 2 of real talk: wholesale blooms jump in price for this weekend, and I am only able to do so much to manage the pricing! These do come in at a higher price point than I usually aim for, but I also have some really beautiful varieties in there, like lisianthus, larkspur, astrantia, and stock, plus roses and some gorgeous peach statice. Swipe to see an individual bouquet!

Bouquets are $45 and will be on the stand tomorrow (this time up at the house so come on into the driveway). 32461 Huntingdon Rd.

You can also message me to reserve one (etransfer to slowbloombouquets@gmail.com).

Cheers!

Just keep planting… just keep planting (to the tune of Dory in Finding Nemo). This is always an overwhelming time of year, and I inevitable kill seedlings via neglect every year, but eventually they mostly make it into the ground and grow! One tray at a time…
