What a blessing this week has been 💙
We’re filled with gratitude for the generosity of our donors and community supporters whose kindness keeps our programs running strong. Every contribution—big or small—goes directly into the heart of our work: helping individuals and families build stability, nourishment, and hope.

A special thank-you to the Envision Financial Community Endowment through the First West Foundation for their support this year. Your contribution helps strengthen our outreach and housing initiatives across the Fraser Valley, ensuring that those on the path to recovery have the resources and care they deserve.

We’re also incredibly grateful for a generous donation from a community member who supported us through our website and Canada Helps. Thank you for believing in us and standing with our mission to support healing and recovery. 💛

We invite everyone to come meet us in person next week at the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Volunteer Fair!
📅 Tuesday, October 21 | 10 AM – 2 PM
📍 Maple Ridge Public Library (130-22470 Dewdney Trunk Road)

Come say hi at our booth, learn about our programs, and explore ways to get involved or volunteer with us!

This week, we’re celebrating one of our participants who is taking the next step in her recovery journey.

Through counselling and community support, and by connecting with other resources, she’s moved forward with courage.

She’s taken her recovery into her own hands — and we’re so proud of her. 💫

🌿 Gratitude & Reflection

Today, we pause in gratitude — not to celebrate, but to reflect.

As we gather and share meals, we also acknowledge that we do so on the unceded territories of the Katzie, Kwantlen, Matsqui, and Stó꞉lō Nations. This land was never surrendered, and we recognize the deep history, strength, and ongoing presence of Indigenous Peoples who continue to care for it.

Gratitude for us means honouring this truth — and recognizing that healing, recovery, and reconciliation all begin with awareness, compassion, and connection.

We are thankful for every volunteer, partner, and community member who helps nurture safety, care, and belonging across the Fraser Valley. Together, we are building communities grounded in respect — for people, for the land, and for each other.

We shared a meal in honour of those who are no longer here, but whose spirits remain in every act of kindness and care.

As we continue this work, we invite you to join us — whether by giving your time, your voice, or your support. Every volunteer, every contribution, and every shared moment of compassion helps strengthen this community.

🌾 With gratitude and humility, from all of us at Fraser Valley Addictions & Recovery Hub.

🍃 Weekly Wrap-Up I Gratitude, Growth & Thanksgiving Warmth

This week, we’re filled with gratitude. 💚

We had the honour of joining the Ridge Meadows Division of Family Practice Annual “Community Spirit” Fundraiser, where $3,560 was raised to support our housing and community programs in Maple Ridge!

We’re also celebrating recovery, learning, and giving back — welcoming our practicum student Scott, and cheering on one of our participants who’s taken her recovery into her own hands through counselling and community support. 🌱

And as we head into the weekend, our volunteers are preparing turkey dinners for over 100 people — including 60 meals for our transitional homes and more for our clinic.

A huge thank-you to Jason, Jessica, and all our volunteers participating in the food program this weekend for bringing warmth, love, and nourishment to our community. 🦃

If you’d like to donate towards the turkey dinner costs, visit FraserValleyAddictions.org and click the Donate button to give through Canada Helps, or connect with our clinic to contribute in person.

Together, we continue building stability, nourishing lives, and fostering hope.

Before Dillon came to Fraser Valley Addictions & Recovery Hub 5 years ago, he described himself as a broken, and addicted person. Dillon’s brother had overdosed, and passed away, and Dillon didn’t know how to break this cycle of addiction to alcohol and co***ne. Dillon had been using drugs for 15 years.

Fortunately, he met his now fiance, Sarah, who empowered him to go to counselling at Fraser Valley Addictions.

Dillon says he feels immensely grateful for the support of Aida during this time in his life, and thanks to her support, Dillon was able to heal.

Today, Dillon is five months sober and has even been able to quit smoking as well. Dillon’s advice for recovery: You have to want to recover, and you have to have an open mind. If you don’t, there is not a single person out there who can help you recover unless YOU want the help. If you are ever struggling with addiction, go to Fraser Valley Addictions & Recovery Hub.

The Fraser Valley Addictions & Recovery Hubs food program is a focal part of the work being done.

Our food program supports recovery by bridging food insecurity. Each Saturday, we provide food top ups —> no ID required, just a need.

With support from & .ca, we pick up donations that now feed over 300 people weekly.

Food is distributed to our transitional housing clients, clinic members, & shared with partners like Supportive Souls (Abbotsford) & Hummingbird Society (Chiliwack)

The simple support helps ensure clients don’t have to choose between recovery & hunger.
