Hello, this is Alescia!
If you don’t already know, I am a co-owner & Registered Midwife here at WCHC.
I have a bittersweet farewell to announce & it’s not going to be easy!
West Coast Health Collective has been our focus for 12 years and we have poured every bit of passion into this business, our clients and our community. But the time has come to start a new chapter for our little family, and move closer to loved ones. We are both heartbroken to be closing WCHC and excited for our move to Alberta!
My life & business partner Rob & I have no family in B.C. and have endured many challenges during our time here. The time & stress it takes to run a business, being on call, and becoming parents without family nearby, is more than we want to sacrifice any longer. There will be a palpable void leaving WCHC to start our next chapter, but this void will no doubt be filled with many cherished memories. I am also looking forward to a fresh start and new challenges which will help me continue to grow as a midwife.
We are so very proud of everything we stand for and how, despite many trials & tribulations, WCHC has remained true to our values associated with the practice of ‘traditional midwifery’.
Offering the basic principles of midwifery care; informed choice, continuity of care, & homebirth, teaches midwives skills we cannot learn from a book. Empowering people to make informed decisions despite there being risks, & witnessing the change in people from conception through to postpartum is priceless & life changing for every one of us. The midwife & person I am today is largely shaped by my journey through being a midwife and practice owner at West Coast Health Collective!
