At Abbotsford Orthodontics, Dr. Peter Dueckman and Dr. Trista Felty and their team love meeting new people and helping them achieve the smiles they've always dreamed of. We utilize the latest technology and specialize in Damon braces, clear (ceramic) braces, Invisalign, and AcceleDent, to meet all of our patients' various functional and aesthetic needs. We offer a range of treatments that are catered to meet the various needs of our patients both clinically and financially. Dr. Felty was a double major at Villanova University where she was also a member of the varsity swim team. After completing her undergraduate degrees, she attended Temple University where she was awarded her Doctorate in Dental Medicine. She finished her training with a two-year residency program to focus on orthodontic treatment, and was granted a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics and a Masters in Oral Biology. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and specialist in orthodontics. Last year she became a clinical instructor at UBC dental school on Fridays. Dr. Felty enjoys staying active within her professional community. She is a member of the AAO (www.braces.org), CAO (www.cao-aco.org), BCDA (www.bcdental.org), DSSBC (www.specialistsbc.ca), BCSO (www.bcortho.ca), PCSO (www.pcsortho.org) and ADA (www.ada.org) She also enjoys giving dental education presentations in schools across the fraser valley. She serves as a mentor for dental students at UBC and was selected to a be a part of an Emerging Leaders Committee by the AAO and a New Dentist Task Force by the BCDA. Dr. Felty grew up in rural Pennsylvania and met her husband while attending dental school. She has recently moved to Abbotsford, the town where her husband grew up and where he is also currently practicing. She enjoys traveling, swimming and spending time with family and friends. She successfully swam across the English Channel as a part of a relay team in 2009, and after a break is back in the water with the local masters team. Dr. Felty also enjoys playing with her Bernese Mountain Dog, Bernice and her daughter Raya.

The hardest thing as an ortho practice is convincing your patients to wear their elastics properly in order to get a great bite and occlusion. So we LOVE when our patients do the work and are able to lock in a beautiful and functional bite especially when it’s a case like this in a young non growing adult patient.

Yesterday we lost my Uncle Jack. He was a second father to me - having no kids of his own, Kayla and I were raised having him be a huge part of our lives. He came to every game, meet, recital, awards banquet and graduation.

He was smart and inspired my love of music - playing his favourite records for me as a kid and telling me so much music trivia. He did a mean Donald Duck impression and I know I got my artistic skills from him.

83 years and still not enough time. While his social circle may have been small, those of us who knew him were loved so dearly by him and we will miss him deeply.

Phase 1 treatment to expand the the upper arch. No treatment on the lower arch but between the loss of the baby teeth (permanent premolars are smaller than baby molars) and expansion on the upper arch has allowed the lower arch to start to resolve crowding on its own. Sometimes the best treatment is no or limited treatment.

I love phase 1 treatment. This was upper treatment to get expansion and reduce flaring on this initially tapered arch. Expansion also consequently gave the lower arch room to upright and develop even without any direct intervention.
