Father’s Day is a day of appreciation, celebration, and reflection. It honours the role of fathers and father figures—whether biological, adoptive, stepfathers, grandfathers, or mentors—who have provided guidance, love, protection, and support in our lives. 💙

At its heart, Father’s Day is not just about gifts or cards. It’s about recognizing the sacrifices made, the lessons taught, and the quiet strength that so many fathers carry. It’s a chance to say thank you—to acknowledge the early mornings, the late nights, the tough love, the gentle encouragement, and the unwavering presence. 💙

For some, it’s also a complex day. It can stir emotions tied to loss, absence, or strained relationships. And for others, it may be a time to honour chosen family—those who stepped into the role of “dad” when it mattered most. 💙

Ultimately, Father’s Day is about love, legacy, and gratitude. 💙

Gratitude plays a vital role in the recovery journey. It fosters reflection, strengthens connection, and reinforces the support systems that makes recovery possible.

This remarkable mural at the Bob Sutton Centre was created and generously donated by a resident in recovery-offered as a heartfelt expression of appreciation for the transitional housing staff who provide consistent, compassionate support each day.

Today, on Red Dress Day, we honour and remember the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people (MMIWG2S+) across Turtle Island.

The red dress has become a powerful symbol—calling attention to the national crisis of gender-based violence and the deep loss experienced by Indigenous communities. We stand in solidarity with survivors, families, and advocates who continue to demand justice, healing, and systemic change.

Let us take this day to reflect, listen, and recommit ourselves to truth, reconciliation, and action.

Every dress tells a story. Every life matters.

“Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for the blessings in our lives and reflect on the history that shaped this day. As we gather with loved ones, let’s remember the First Peoples who were here long before us and honour their cultures and contributions. May this be a time of gratitude, respect, and deeper understanding as we come together to celebrate and reflect on what truly matters.”

🧡 **Today, we honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation** 🧡

On this day, we remember and reflect on the profound harm caused by the residential school system and the ongoing impacts felt by Indigenous survivors, families, and communities. This is a time for all of us to listen, learn, and commit to the journey of healing and reconciliation.

Wearing an orange shirt today symbolizes our solidarity with the survivors of these schools, acknowledging the injustices they endured and the cultural losses they suffered. We must also remember the children who never made it home, and hold space for their memory.

Let us take this day to reflect on the truth of our shared history and take meaningful steps toward building a future rooted in justice, equality, and healing.
