Yayyyy!!! Grateful for organizations like MHRP SI doing amazing work like they do!

MHRP South Island is excited to share that we have received a grant from The Courtnall Society for Mental Health (CSMH)! The CSMH promotes mental health through awareness, education, and resources, and raises funds year-round to provide grants to support community-centric mental health organizations across Canada.

CSMH’s generous support will fund community-based peer support activities accessed by participants of our Transitional Discharge Model (TDM) program.

MHRP SI’s TDM program offers peer support for people in the hospital during a mental health-related hospital admission. TDM participants have the option to continue the one-to-one peer support relationship in community post discharge, as well as receive support through other MHRP SI services, such as support groups and wellness training.

We are incredibly grateful to the Courtnall Society for Mental Health for their acknowledgement of our work providing a continuum of care post hospitalization! Recovery is possible!

Yes! As someone who works in adult mental health and has faced my own struggles, I deeply understand how important it is to give children as much unconditional love as possible—so that they grow up knowing their worth.

Because the world will try.

It will hand them scripts written in fear, in comparison, in silence.

It will tell them who to be, how to behave, what to chase — and what to abandon.

And if we’re not intentional, they’ll trade their truth for someone else’s version of success.

But a child who is certain of their worth? Who knows they are enough — without performance, perfection, or permission?

That child becomes the author of their own life. And the world doesn’t get to edit it. ❤️

Gaslighting is talked about a lot in mental health settings, but there’s confusion about what it is. It’s so harmful and destructive.

When we have relationships like this, we need so much self-compassion, self-protection, and honouring our experience.

We need to do less. I’ve been doing more work with for-profit businesses they want to support the mental health of their staff.

Reducing workload is so important. There’s only so much we can do.

Compassion, by definition, is aimed at suffering. It can be hard to keep our hearts open when things are difficult. When we can remain caring even in instances of distress, failure or sorrow, our kindness manifests as compassion.
