⛳ Drive Out Addiction Golf Classic – July 10

This isn’t just a round of golf. It’s a line in the sand.

Every year, hundreds of men come to Joshua House looking for a way out of addiction—and a way back to life. Last year alone, 328 men walked through our doors. Today, around 100 men are in recovery with us, doing the hard, daily work of rebuilding.

And here’s the truth: recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in community.

That’s where you come in.

On Friday, July 10 (3pm shotgun start), we’re gathering leaders, businesses, and friends for a day that’s as meaningful as it is fun. Every team, every sponsor, every swing helps create space for real change.

Video Version - We had a great time providing a tour of the Creek to 4 MLA’s: Korky Neufeld (who organized), Reann Gasper, Heather Maas, and Aalyiah Warbus. Yaried provided an entertaining and descriptive walk about from Intake, gardens, pigs, and digs. It was wonderful to share what is happening through the work of JH and its passionate and capable team. Thanks Isaac Byrd for creating the video. Give us a call as we love to show you around.

Last Friday and Saturday, our dedicated Board members gathered for an intensive strategy weekend (Randy, Jane, Jeremy, Mike, Doug). We met at the Hub/Abbotsford (Wiebe Properties) - So good. Adam Woelders (Head of School at Langley Christian School), also very good, focused our conversations and guided us toward a shared understanding of who we are are and where we are going. What an outstanding time of prayer, wrestling, and formative vision making. We cherished how God has shaped us over twenty years and we look forward to 2030, pressing forward with hope and energy to tackle what is before us. I look forward to pull our best thinking into a shared focus with staff, volunteers, and ministry partners. The words out of Joshua are appropriate - Be Strong and Courageous. May it be so!

Abbotsford Access hosted Indigenous 101 learning opportunity on Thurday morning. The room was full. Bridget from MCC’s Indigenous Neighbours program provided a superb hour of indigenous history, insight, and awareness. Thankyou hosts and teacher! If you are an organization wondering about how and why to embrace and partner with our indigenous neighbours, I highly recommend you reach out to Bridget Findlay at MCC. Thankyou Graham for your passion and efforts to build great relationships.

Roy Daly, member of the Golden Age society located at the Garden Park Tower, provides annual assistance with income tax for our men. It is invaluable, and his recent deliveries of packages demonstrate his willingness to go the extra mile. We love his enthusiasm and support. He is now thinking of going to the Creek monthly. Thank you, Roy! It’s a big deal what you do.

This was great. Ed and I spent Thursday morning at UGM New Westminster to connect with their guests about recovery opportunities. Other awsome recovery organizations across the mainland were there too. Thank you UGM New Westminster for innovating this first time event in order to help more people find help. We are in this together.

Joshua House is growing—and we’re adding to the team. You might be interested in a few of the roles, but let me spotlight one in particular: Community & Engagement Coordinator.

This is a part-time role working alongside a great front-office team as we build new relationships, host events, and form meaningful partnerships across the community. It’s a strong fit if you’re already juggling life (student, parent, creative freelancer, side-hustler extraordinaire) and want to add purpose, people, and a paycheque to the mix. It’s also a solid on-ramp for someone looking to step into frontline social-impact work and learn how community, fundraising, and communications actually happen.

We’re looking for someone with energy, follow-through, and real relational chops—the kind of person who likes people, keeps promises, and gets things done.

Sound like you? Or someone you know? Let’s talk.
