A Joshua House graduate becomes a volunteer.
This hit the news this week. You may be able to help... But first the story:

A volunteer becomes a builder.
And now—a builder is creating opportunity for others to rebuild their lives.

This is how recovery grows.

Duston DeHart is stepping into that space with a vision: not just helping men get sober—but helping them stay steady. Because the hardest part of recovery often comes after the program ends.

Too many men leave with the right intentions… but without the structure, opportunity, or support to make it stick.

So we’re working on something new.

A work initiative designed to create real opportunities—hands-on skills, honest income, and a pathway back into meaningful life. Construction. Landscaping. Property work. The kind of work that builds more than paycheques—it builds confidence, discipline, and purpose.

We’re at the ground floor of this. Early days. But promising days.

I’m excited to walk alongside Duston as this takes shape—and I’ve committed to bringing a few sharp business minds around him to help guide it well.

That’s the kind of story we care about.

Duston is building something that brings together real work, practical business experience, and meaningful opportunity for men rebuilding their lives after recovery. It’s early—but it’s grounded, and it’s promising.

I’m looking forward to walking alongside him as this takes shape. We’re starting simple, building it right, and focusing on what actually creates long-term stability for guys coming out of recovery.

Big News at Joshua House

We’re excited to welcome Stan Kuperis into the role of Volunteer Director of Program.

Stan brings decades of experience in mental health and substance use care, including leadership with Fraser Health and clinical direction in residential recovery settings.

As a recent Registered Social Worker he understands both the complexity of addiction and the power of community in recovery. In this role, Stan will help strengthen and shape our program across The Creek, In-Care, and After-Care—bringing greater clarity, consistency, and impact to the work we do every day.

What makes this especially meaningful?

He’s stepping into this as a volunteer—choosing to invest his time and leadership into the lives of the men we serve.

We’re grateful. And we’re expectant.

The work is growing. The foundation is getting stronger.

We should get together with our volunteers we thought. How many coming? Last week maybe six. Monday maybe 25. Event night almost 50! What a joyful evening of connection, inspiration, and uniting in a shared work to help men recover from addiction to wholeness. Together.

Volunteers are not an extra layer here at JH, they are the core! The gathering of volunteers made that certain.

⛳ Drive Out Addiction Golf Classic – July 10

This isn’t just a round of golf. It’s a line in the sand.

Every year, hundreds of men come to Joshua House looking for a way out of addiction—and a way back to life. Last year alone, 328 men walked through our doors. Today, around 100 men are in recovery with us, doing the hard, daily work of rebuilding.

And here’s the truth: recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in community.

That’s where you come in.

On Friday, July 10 (3pm shotgun start), we’re gathering leaders, businesses, and friends for a day that’s as meaningful as it is fun. Every team, every sponsor, every swing helps create space for real change.
