😬👃 Bad Breath That Won’t Go Away? It Might Be Tonsil Stones
If you brush, floss, and still struggle with bad breath, the cause may not be your teeth — it could be tonsil stones (also called tonsilloliths).
🦠 What Are Tonsil Stones?
Tonsil stones are small, white or yellowish lumps that form in the crevices of the tonsils. They’re made of food debris, bacteria, and dead cells that harden over time.
🚨 Common Signs:
• Chronic bad breath
• Bad taste in the mouth
• White spots at the back of the throat
• Sore throat or discomfort when swallowing
• Frequent throat clearing
🪥 What Can Help?
✅ Good oral hygiene and tongue cleaning
✅ Gargling with salt water or non-alcohol mouthwash
✅ Staying well hydrated
✅ Treating post-nasal drip or sinus issues
✅ Seeing a dentist or ENT if stones are frequent or large
💡 Important:
While tonsil stones are not dangerous, they are not a dental problem — but many patients first notice them because of bad breath.
