HopeShares

HopeShares HopeShares invests in the health and effectiveness of community leaders in developing nations. Why is this work so important?

For the past 11 years, HopeShares has partnered with Seed of Hope in South Africa to provide support and mentoring. During this time we have had staff on location supporting the organization. A few years ago we were able to have our staff return to Canada and as of May 2020, Seed of Hope is run by a local Zulu women who has a passion and vision for her community. We believe our new mission clearly

shares our passion to support organizations and their leaders who are working in their communities to make a difference. As we expand our work with other partner organizations, your continued support will be crucial. Around the world most community work is done by small organizations led by international workers supported by local staff who have compassion and vision. These leaders often have a limited skill set for leading and developing a growing team and the challenges they face are often overwhelming. As an international worker, you are in a cross-cultural situation, distanced from family and friends, lacking support and generally feeling alone. A sobering statistic is that 70% of international workers who return home early, do so for reasons that are preventable. These reasons include but are not limited to marriage challenges, family dynamics, interpersonal issues with other staff, cultural issues or spiritual burn out. When this happens, the leader’s lives, their kids, as well as the organization are deeply impacted. This is where HopeShares wants to make a difference. In the next few years we are looking to partner with more organization to help the leader of the organization to ensure they are healthy in all areas of their personal lives and leadership role.

What turns a fire survivor into a community leader?
Wandile was just a child when devastating burns left her with physical scars and deep insecurity. Today, she confidently leads computer training and pre-employment programs for young adults, sharing her story of discovering God's purpose for her life.

How does an unemployed mother become a successful entrepreneur?
Nonhlanhla voice fills with pride as she describes the vocational and business skills that transformed her from struggling single parent to thriving provider for her family. Her journey inspires hope in everyone who hears it.

These remarkable transformations are happening because of your support. Seed of Hope South Africa CEO, Heather Liebenberg, recently shared these and other powerful stories at events across Alberta and Ontario.

Important Change for Canadian Donors
Seed of Hope has begun partnering with the Great Commission Foundation (GCF), a Canadian charity that provides tax receipting and financial administration to hundreds of organizations worldwide. This partnership will streamline your giving to Seed of Hope's life-changing work in South Africa.

HopeShares Canada will officially cease operations this year, which means current monthly donations will end shortly. To continue supporting Seed of Hope and Heather Liebenberg, you will need to set up your monthly donations with GCF. Full transition details are available at www.hopeshares.ca.

In the future if you want to make a one time donation, you will also have to direct it to GCF. View the donation form available on our website.

Will you continue this journey with us?
We invite you to become a monthly supporter through Seed of Hope's new partnership with the Great Commission Foundation. Your ongoing investment makes stories like Wandile's and Lina's possible.

Seed of Hope's mission remains unchanged: Restoring Communities Through Restored Individuals.

Thank you for sharing God's transforming love in South Africa and beyond.

In faith,

Carl Waldron

Carl Waldron and Trish Pritchard had the privilege of connecting with our partner leaders Kim and Colin Radford from HELP Madagascar (NGO). Such a time of blessing for all involved. ❤️

Sometimes you don't know you're thirsty until someone hands you water. Today we had the privilege of video chatting with Carl and Trish with HopeShares. They encouraged us, prayed with and for us, made us laugh & reminded us how valuable these long-distance connections can be. Thank you for quenching our thirst, Trish & Carl! (It's a testament to how engaged we were that we forgot to take a screenshot and have to recycle this old photo, LOL!)

Proverbs 29:18 says Where there is no vision, the people perish.

Having a clear picture of where you are headed is so important as it guides your decisions, programs, staffing and so much more. An organization must know where they are going before they try and get there otherwise they will be lost and it will take more time to get there.

Visions of an organization can be BIG and seem unattainable. A healthy leader is able to take that vision and break it down into reality. We need to accomplish A, B and C before we can move onto D, E and F. You cannot start at Z and expect everything to work out. The leader provides this insight to see the vision happen.

At HopeShares, our vision is to see developing nations changed by healthy, passionate, equipped leaders. That is a big goal but we are breaking it down step by step and coming alongside a small group of leaders at a time. We are helping them function in a healthy and effective way to see their mission happen.

According to the Centre for Creative Leadership, A learning culture is an environment that demonstrates and encourages individual and organizational learning, and where both gaining and sharing knowledge is prioritized, valued, and rewarded. It becomes part of the ecosystem of the organization.

Does your organization do that? If so, would love to hear how they do?
