Why parents may take their kids to the Chiropractor

1. Posture struggles - If your child often slouches, tilts their head to one side, or carries their backpack unevenly, it could be a clue their spine and muscles are under stress.
2. Frequent growing pains or stiffness - It’s not normal for kids to feel ongoing aches, tightness, or discomfort in their back, neck, or hips. Recurring “growing pains” can sometimes signal imbalance.
3. Trouble with movement or coordination - If your child avoids certain activities, seems less coordinated than peers, or complains about discomfort during sports or play, it may point to alignment or mobility issues.

Shockwave therapy — more formally called Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) — is a non-invasive treatment sometimes used for chronic plantar fasciitis, especially when rest, stretching, orthotics, or injections haven’t worked. Here’s how it helps:

🔬 Mechanism of Action

ESWT delivers high-energy acoustic (sound) waves to the heel and plantar fascia. These waves interact with the tissue in several beneficial ways:
1. Stimulates healing
• The shockwaves create controlled microtrauma, which triggers the body’s natural healing response.
• This increases blood flow, promotes the formation of new blood vessels (neovascularization), and stimulates tissue regeneration.
2. Reduces chronic inflammation
• It helps break up scar tissue and decrease inflammatory chemicals in the area.
• Over time, this can reduce pain and swelling.
3. Decreases pain signaling
• Shockwaves may desensitize nerve endings, lowering pain transmission from the plantar fascia.
• This can provide pain relief even before full tissue healing occurs.
4. Breaks up calcifications (in some cases)
• In chronic cases, calcium deposits may form near the fascia insertion. Shockwave energy can help fragment and resorb these deposits.
