🌸 Attention Internationally Educated Nurses & Mental Health Professionals 🌸
Are you a nurse trained outside Canada — struggling to find a role that lets you use your skills and passion for patient care? You’re not alone — and there is a meaningful path forward. 💜
Many IENs share how hard it is to get hired in Canada without “Canadian experience,” even though they bring years of clinical knowledge in labour & delivery, postpartum care, or maternal-child health.
Here’s some good news:You can still use your nursing expertise to make a real impact in the community — by becoming a CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educator (CCCE).
💡 What is a CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educator?
A CAPPA Childbirth Educator supports expectant families through education, emotional preparation, and confidence-building before birth. You’ll be able to:
* Teach prenatal and newborn preparation classes
* Help clients navigate birth, postpartum recovery, and infant care
* Support perinatal mental health, PMADs (Postpartum Mood & Anxiety Disorders), PPD, and even fertility and loss concerns
👩⚕️ Why This Matters for IENs
While CCCE experience isn’t recognized as “nursing practice hours” by the College, it gives you:
* Direct experience with clients and families
* A stepping stone into the Canadian perinatal field
* A chance to build your own independent practice or business
* The confidence, communication, and teaching experience that strengthens your resume when applying for future nursing roles
