I have used this concept as a behavioral experiment on myself over the past few years and it has worked well, as my feelings of agitation, anger & anxiety have decreased significantly.

Subsequently, this has reinforced my belief that humans are not meant to be exposed to high levels of negative stimuli from social media/news. This is because the human brain is meant to identify fear and respond to it to stay alive. However, when the fear is constantly perpetuated by tragedy from around the world, our brains will often automatically react with stress responses such as agitation, anger and anxiety.

With this in mind, I don't believe that we have to stick our heads in the sand and avoid everything, we can still stay informed and know what we believe. But, do we have to know everything from everywhere that we have no control over? I have decided that this doesn't work for me. So I'm going to get out into nature and fill myself with positivity πŸ‚πŸŒΏ
(and yes, I acknowledge the irony of me posting this on social media)

I love this. I can be A LOT but I also give A LOT. 🀟

Celebrating my amazing Mama today 😍 The woman who was ahead of the times in 1999 and had me diagnosed with ADHD; a time when males were diagnosed at significantly higher rates than females. And in doing so, she ensured that I would not have to endure the same struggles with ADHD that she did for most of her life. The woman who grew up experiencing physical and emotional abuse, but refused to project her generational trauma onto me. The woman who made it through a double major in university in physio and occupational therapy with untreated ADHD. The woman who has faced the past 4 years of chemotherapy with strength and grace. (Her uterine cancer was missed a year prior to her diagnosis, which led to the cancer spreading outside of her uterus and becoming a disease she will have to live with for the rest of her life. Please share this with your moms to help prevent this in other women)

I love you Mama. I'm so lucky to call you mine. πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ‘©

Successful ADHD

I am a 37 year old mom, wife & photographer with well-managed ADHD and LOVING LIFE. I take ADHD medication daily and it changed my life.

I want to share my personal experiences with ADHD (diagnosed at 18) to help others struggling with it.
