✨Notice to patients✨:

Clinic will be closed for appointments Sept 29th - Oct 9th, reopening October 10th at the new Alberton Community Health Center, located at 397 Church Street. Paperwork and prescriptions will still be tended to during this move. We are excited about this move and hopeful that this larger clinic space will help in recruitment and retention, so our multidisciplinary healthcare team can continue to grow! Thank you for your patience as we prepare to open at our new location.

Please note: The new clinic will not affect acute care provision at Western Hospital. The Emergency Department, Lab services, XRAY, and inpatient care will remain at Western Hospital located at 148 Poplar Street, Alberton. 🏥

PEI's Breast Screening Program for Early Detection of Breast Cancer:

☑ Mammograms are available to women aged 40-74 years by self-referral.
☑ Yearly screening is recomended for women with a history of chest radiation, a known gene mutation for breast cancer, or a first-degree family member with a history of breast cancer.
☑ Screening is otherwise recommended every 2 years.

✨ Book your appointment by calling 1-888-592-9888.

*For women with a personal history of breast cancer, contact your primary care provider for guidance on what monitoring schedule is best for you.

☀️Some sun safety tips for your littles this spring and summer:

✔️Choose SPF 30 or greater for children 6 months and older
✔️For infants under 6 months, choose shaded play and nap areas (as sunscreen is not recommended under the age of 6 months)
✔️ Use mineral based sunscreens over chemical based sunscreens (for example zinc oxide rather than oxybenzone)
✔️ Apply clothing that will help protect against burns, such as a wide brim hats, hats with back flaps, and light UV rated clothing
✔️Apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before sun exposure
✔️Reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours and always after swimming
✔️Encourage good fluid intake while playing outdoors
✔️Consider playing in the shade at peak sun hours ⛱

https://caringforkids.cps.ca/handouts/safety-and-injury-prevention/sun_safety

Protecting children from getting too much sun is important, whether they are playing outside or are with you on an errand. The hot summer sun can be dangerous for children. A child can sunburn easily, even on a cloudy day.

⭐️ With the closure of cough and fever clinics, patients experiencing infectious symptoms can now be assessed through primary care. When calling for your appointment, please inform the receptionist if you are experiencing: fever, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, congestion, nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, or new loss of taste or smell. Your appointment may be changed to a virtual appointment (depending on the situation) or you may be directed to enter the side clinic door in order to avoid coming through the hospital. Please continue to wear a three layered mask to all in-person appointments. Thank you for your understanding and have a great week! 🩺🌼🌸
