Thank you Honda of Canada Mfg.!

Today, we were thrilled to welcome their leadership team as they presented us with a brand new Honda Odyssey Van! 💛

At Matthews House Hospice, the Honda van is instrumental in caring for our community 🚙

We use the van to pick up clients who attend our support programs. We significantly appreciate having the van as these clients would not be able to attend our programs without this ride 🤝

Additionally, our Food Services Program depends on the van daily. Our volunteers drive far and wide from Newmarket, Bradford, Wasaga Beach, and everywhere in between to pick up food from our partner grocery stores. 100% of the food used to feed our residents, clients, their family and friends is donated through these partnerships and our generous community. Any surplus of food is used in our Meals To Go, as well as given to other local organizations to ensure our community has access to nutritious meals 🥗

We appreciate our partnership with Honda and their generous commitment to our community by donating our new van! 💛

Our Mindfulness Ambassador Program is returning this September 💭

Over this 12 week program you will develop mindfulness practices and skills that will help you manage everyday challenges and improve well-being 💛

This program is open to everyone, we look forward to having you join us 💭

🌟 New 🌟 Introducing Continuing The Journey: Spousal Loss Support Group 💛

This new monthly group, Continuing The Journey, has been created for those who are in their second or third year of living with the loss of a spouse.

Our Spousal Loss Support Group is best suited to those in the first year of loss.
Continuing The Journey: Spousal Loss Support Group is an extension of the connection and peer support as you all move through your grief in different stages and time periods 💛

📅 4th Monday of the month from 2:00pm-3:00pm, starting September 22nd

Our Spousal Loss Support Group is gathering again this fall 💛

It is a welcoming environment for those who have lost a spouse. This group is a chance to connect with others living with a similar experience to you and to receive peer support.

This monthly group is most suitable for those who have lost their spouse within the last year or so.

📅 Every 3rd Monday of the month from 2:00pm-3:30pm, starting September 15th

We had a lovely visit from Gilbert this month💛

Gilbert very kindly donated two beautiful quilts in memory of his wife, Marion. These quilts were handmade in honour of Marion by her friends and family. They include an embroidered message on the back and are butterfly themed.

At hospice, the butterfly represents a gentle and peaceful transition. It transpires the idea of finding peace within the journey and a touch of beauty in nature 🦋
