Thank you to the province and Brian Saunderson, MPP Simcoe-Grey for your ongoing support of our hospital. This funding will go a long way to help create capacity in our surgical program and reduce wait lists, along with supporting our CT services to ensure more patients receive the care they need, when they need it.

Great News for SMH!

I’m pleased to share that Stevenson Memorial Hospital will receive up to $172,150 in provincial funding to help reduce wait times and improve access to care for patients across our region.

✔️ Up to $46,250 for additional Computed Tomography (CT) hours to increase access to diagnostic imaging and support timely, high-quality patient care

✔️ Up to $125,900 in incremental surgical funding to increase capacity, reduce wait lists, and support additional surgeries

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today we’re celebrating kindness, compassion, and connection, values our teams demonstrate every day through the care they provide to patients and one another. 💕

Today at SMH, staff celebrated Heart Month and Valentine’s Day with a few activities across the hospital. ❤️ Candy Grams were distributed 💌, the Auxiliary provided a selection of treats and healthy snacks 🍎🍪, and the Social Committee hosted a photo booth in the cafeteria complete with props 📸🎉.

These small touches added a bit of fun to the day and gave staff an opportunity to pause and enjoy time with colleagues.

On the cusp of a major redevelopment, Stevenson Memorial Hospital is undertaking an exciting renewal of its governance and is seeking exceptional community leaders to join an entirely new, skills-based Board of Directors.

Desired skills span typical subject matter areas such as accounting/audit, legal, IT, HR/LR, government relations, strategic planning, and risk management as well as specific clinical, quality and patient safety and health care expertise.

We have a new space for our CT scanner at SMH! With construction starting soon on our new hospital facility, we were required to move our CT Suite to a new repurposed space at the hospital.

The scanner was moved successfully last week and all testing has been complete. The CT scanner is now operational and able to be used for patient care.

The CT scanner/suite will remain in its new location at SMH until the new hospital facility is complete, which will feature a new CT scanner.

We are very thankful to our local hospital partners and EMS in the region who supported our CT relocation project, providing care to our patients with urgent CT needs:

This week, we celebrate our resident doctors! 👏

In 2025, SMH welcomed 26 residents to complete core and/or elective rotations in conjunction with their studies at one of eight medical universities across Ontario. Their dedication to learning, teamwork, and patient care makes a real difference for our hospital and community.

We are grateful to our core group of preceptors for making these rotations possible. Currently, three residents are onsite until March, and we look forward to welcoming more in 2026. Hosting these rotations has also helped us successfully recruit physicians who have returned after graduation!
