Where most people get Intuitive living wrong, is that they think that it's all about following every whim, every craving, every spontaneous desire that pops into their head.

That's not what it's about. Eventually you may get there but most people are so wrapped up in the messaging that they have received that they no longer know what is truly best for them, both in the now and in the future.

Your intuition, your older wiser self, your inner knowing, whatever you want to call it - it speaks to you in whispers. While the external messages are coming in via megaphones with bright flashing lights that make them seem oh so important and they end up drowning out that whisper of an inner voice.

Let's learn to differentiate between the two. Let's learn to quiet the external noise and listen to the internal voice.

Equanimity is a key component of a strong mindfulness practice.

It's the ability to remain calm and balanced in the face of life's ups and downs.

When we cultivate equanimity, we're better able to manage stress, make wise decisions, and respond to challenges with grace.

So, take a deep breath, center yourself, and remember that equanimity is within your reach.

Learning to tolerate uncertainty can be challenging, but it's a valuable skill to have.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, and the ability to navigate uncertainty with grace can make all the difference.

Remember, not having all the answers doesn't mean you're lost. It just means you're on a journey. Embrace the unknown and see where it takes you.

Just a reminder that nothing in life is permanent, and that can be a beautiful thing.

Change allows us to grow, learn, and transform.

Embrace impermanence and see the endless possibilities that come with it.

Do you have a Just Like Me practice?

The "Just Like Me" mindfulness practice involves cultivating empathy and compassion by recognizing the shared experiences and common humanity between yourself and others.

In this practice, choose a person who you may have a difficult relationship with or feel disconnected from, and silently recite the following phrases:

Just like me, this person wants to be happy.
Just like me, this person has experienced joy and pain in their life.
Just like me, this person is doing the best they can with the resources they have.

The practice can help to reduce feelings of anger, frustration, and judgment towards others, and increase feelings of connection and understanding.

Give it a try and let me know how it went!

Your bodies have an incredible ability to communicate your true feelings and emotions, even when you're not consciously aware of them.

For example, when you're feeling anxious or nervous, your body might start to shake, your heart rate might increase, and you might start to sweat. These physical symptoms are your body's way of telling you that something isn't right and that you need to pay attention.

Similarly, when you're happy and content, your body might feel relaxed, your breathing might slow down, and you might even start to smile. These physical cues can also clue you into your emotional state.

So the next time you're not sure how you're feeling, take a moment to pay attention to your body. It might just be telling you the truth about your emotions!

Mindfulness is not just about being present, it also nurtures empathy and compassion towards ourselves and others.

By practicing mindfulness, we become more aware of our thoughts and emotions, which helps us respond to others with kindness and understanding.

Let's spread more empathy and compassion around like confetti.

Nostril breathing, also known as "pranayama" in yoga, can help calm the nervous system by slowing down the breath and increasing oxygenation.

This stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation and calming the body.

Focusing on the breath can help shift the mind away from stressful thoughts and promote a sense of inner calm.

I think we could all use a little more calm in our lives. ;)

Meditation is a practice that encourages us to let go of our thoughts and simply be present in the moment. It invites us to observe our thoughts and emotions without judgment and to cultivate a sense of spaciousness and calm within ourselves. By taking ourselves less seriously, we can open ourselves up to new perspectives and experiences.

Here are some ways in which taking ourselves less seriously can benefit us through meditation:

- It can reduce stress and anxiety by helping us let go of our worries and fears
- It can improve our relationships by enabling us to be more empathetic and understanding towards others
- It can increase our creativity by freeing us from self-imposed limitations and expectations
- It can enhance our sense of purpose by helping us connect with our inner selves and values

So, the next time you sit down to meditate, remember that it's not about achieving a specific outcome or becoming a certain type of person. It's simply an invitation to be present, to let go of our preconceptions, and to take ourselves far less seriously.

Believe it or not, relaxation is a skill that takes practice. Just like any other skill, it requires effort and dedication to get good at it.

The good news is that with consistent practice, relaxation becomes easier and more natural. You'll start to notice that your body and mind are better able to let go of stress and tension, and you'll feel more centered and grounded as a result.

So, if you're struggling to relax, don't beat yourself up about it. Instead, try to make relaxation a regular part of your routine. Set aside time each day to do something that helps you unwind, whether it's taking a bath, practicing yoga, or simply reading a book.

Remember, relaxation takes practice, but the more you do it, the better you'll get at it. So take a deep breath and let go of any judgment or expectations, and allow yourself to simply be in the present moment.

Never Give Up on Your Dreams

At 45 years old, I had no idea I would be leaving a job of 22 years and starting out on this new and exciting adventure. Stepping outside of your comfort zone can be a very scary thing, especially when you have loved ones counting on you for physical, emotional, and financial support. But I can tell you that it IS possible to follow your dreams at any stage in your life and that is what Ruby Red Yoga is all about!

Yoga can be very misunderstood in todays society. Most people just think of yoga as stretching and turning yourself into a pretzel, and while there is certainly a large physical component to Yoga, it is so much more than that. The word Yoga can be translated to mean Union. Yoga is about union of the body and mind, the physical and the spiritual, the movement and the breath. By bringing together the opposing parts of ourselves we can become whole. We can start to peel back the layers that have been building up with the ongoing stressors of every day life and begin to find our true selves hidden underneath.

Now, if I’ve started to scare you away with all this talk of spiritual stuff, please know that if you are only interested in the physical benefits of Yoga, you can certainly put your energy only on achieving that goal. Whether you want to get stronger, lose weight, gain energy, sleep better, improve your self esteem, increase flexibility & mobility, reduce stress, or develop a meditation practice, I am here to help.

My dream is to have Ruby Red Yoga Studio be a place where anyone can come and feel invited and accepted just as they are. I want you to feel just as comfortable showing up in old gym shorts as you would in fancy yoga pants. Most days I will arrive as a hot mess myself, so rest assured there will be no judgements here!
