Feelings are ok! They're indicators trying to tell us something! I wonder what the thunderstorm is saying? :)

the largest part of healing is being able to share without fear of judgement.

I don't know how everyone else is feeling, but as much as the spring seemed to last forever, summer has flown by at speeds I haven't quite understood.
How's everyone else fairing the upcoming back to school season?

Why is weight loss so hard?
Why is getting off the couch or out of bed so hard?
The desire to be active and healthy is there, so why is it such a struggle?
Anyone have thoughts on this or have their own struggles they can share? What's your favourite comfort food?

With the Holiday season behind us, it reminds me of how it feels after someone has passed away, just after the funeral. Everyone goes on with their lives, with the big event gone and done.
There's a void, an emptiness, a feeling that the world is surreal, that we're pretending but are so hopeful that we can wake up and go back to the world where our loved one is still here with us.
Grief is brutal. People can be sympathetic, but no one really "gets" it until they live it.
Remember that we'll never "get over" the loss of a loved one. We do move along the process of acceptance, the surreal starts to fade into reality.
My word of wisdom is to talk about the loved ones when you want to. If your friend wants to talk about their loved one who has passed away, listen and even participate, if you have your own anecdote of their person. Avoid telling them they'll get over it or everything will be ok. It won't be. For them, nothing will ever be "ok" again in the same way it was before.
I am sending love and compassion to those of you who have lost someone dear to you. It is a heavy burden because you have loved so deeply. Having had the opportunity to love that deeply is a really amazing thing.
If you feel comfortable, please share a story about your loved one in the comments, or simply an emoji.

Well-being, One Person at a Time

I was one of those lucky ones who had a calling. A calling to help others. Thankfully, I also enjoyed school and was able to pair those together and have gained valuable skills to better assist those who seek out help in getting back on track. I have worked with military members and their families, veterans, hospital staff, first responders, teachers, construction workers, office workers, stay at home parents and people in between jobs. People come to my office because they can’t sleep, don’t feel safe in public, feel overwhelmed, had an affair, lost a loved one, are trying to reconnect to a spouse after the kids have moved away, don’t know how to handle their teenager. Whatever the reason they have been met with compassion and attention. We can work together to get beyond the pain and suffering to a place of well-being, one step at a time.
