Some days it feels like you’re floating slightly outside yourself.

You’re doing all the things. Showing up. Functioning. But something’s …. off.

I know that feeling.

I’ve been had enough practice being IN my body to know when I’ve quietly slipped out of it.
But this time it took a problematic tonsil and relentless ear pain to finally get my attention.

It was time for a restart.

This episode of The Couch Quitter’s Club is unscripted and a bit raw (both in feeling and voice!)

It’s about coming back into YOU after being adrift for a while.
And we end with a simple 2-minute breath + body awareness practice.
Not to fix anything, but to make space.

It was Canada Day yesterday, celebrations and reflections that have always signalled the beginning of summer.

My oldest graduated high school last week.

My youngest has one more year left.

My own seasons are moving towards change.

My perspective is shifting.

I feel the thrill of curiosity and excitement for what could be around the corner, slowly building.

Not just for my kids, but for me, for my practice.

I’m going to enjoy this part of the ride, with my eyes on the horizon.

I feel like I’m coming out of a blur.

For the longest time, I feel like I’ve been “blurred out” - not burnt out - and things are coming back into focus.

If your heart were a band, what kind would it be?

💂‍♀️ Marching band = low HRV
🎷 Jazz band = high HRV

When your heart beats with slight variability — like a jazz rhythm — it means your nervous system is flexible. Responsive. Resilient.

When every beat lands exactly the same, you’re running on rigidity.
That’s low HRV. And that’s a problem.

Want better recovery, mood, and movement? Start with breath chemistry — not just mindset.

What’s your resting breath rate? (Most people don’t know — but it matters.)

A generation ago, the average person breathed 8–10 times per minute.
Today? It’s 12–20+, even at rest.

What changed?
Modern stress.
Info overload.
Chronic low-grade anxiety.
A loss of physical and nervous system literacy.

Slower breath ≠ better just because it’s “calm.”
It’s better because it means your body trusts itself.

(Do a one-minute count today. What’s your resting rate?)

Have you ever said, “I just need a really good stretch”?

You stretch. It helps.
But… only for a little while.

That “tight” sensation keeps coming back.

In this week’s episode, I explore why.

🌿 What tightness really is (hint: it’s not always muscular)
🌿 How stretching can give us a neurochemical high—and why we crave it
🌿 What your breath and movement habits say about your nervous system
🌿 And how to feel more at ease with your body, instead of constantly trying to fix it

This one’s for anyone who’s been told they’re “too tight”…
Or who’s ready to reclaim softness.

You don’t have to think your way through everything.
You don't even have to name what you're feeling.

This week, I recorded something deeply personal — an episode about what happens when the mind just can’t process … and we let the body lead.

I talk about:
💔 What grief can look like in the body
🧠 Why the prefrontal cortex checks out when we're overwhelmed
😌 How the vagus nerve helps us return to ourselves
👣 The subtle but powerful movements that can help us complete the stress cycle

If your world has been heavy lately, or you’ve been holding something you can’t name — you’re not alone.

The same body that holds so much — it can also let go.
The same body that stumbles — it can also find its rhythm again

Come with me as I remind myself of how important it is to move not through, but with our emotional load.
