2026 will bring big changes at Altona Yoga! After 5.5 years of studio ownership, I have decided that it’s time for me to take a step back. If yoga has taught me anything, it is that attention on the present matters most. In this current phase of life, I’d like to be more present to the life that is right in front of me: my hilarious, empathetic, amazing daughter, Margot, and my ever-patient, loving partner, my biggest cheerleader, Shaun. Most importantly, I’d like to have a bit more space to work on figuring out how to be present and attentive to myself in this mess of new motherhood and midlife. After much consideration, stepping away from the studio feels like the right thing to do, right now. While this change comes with sadness and niggling feelings of failure, it mostly feels like a giant exhale, and for that I am grateful.
The amazing news is that our very own Abby Cornelson has decided to purchase the business! I am grateful that she will be able to give the studio the energy and life it (and all of you) deserves, and I am excited to watch Abby thrive as a business owner. Abby has some small, but beautiful changes in store. I can’t wait to see how the space and community blossom under her care. You’ll also continue to see me on the schedule, teaching yoga. I can’t stay THAT far away. ;-) This January, I will offer one final month of programming while Abby and I work out the details of transferring over studio ownership. Our hope is it that Abby’s studio will be up and running by February, and that the transition will go relatively smoothly and seamlessly (at least for you folks)!
I could have never imagined when I started teaching yoga in Altona 11 years ago that the programming would blossom into the community and the space that together make Altona Yoga. Thank you to all who have journeyed with me. I am grateful to each of you for taking a chance on yoga, for trusting me to guide you through breath and movement, and for showing up, week after week, to practice.
I look forward to continuing to practice with you, and to seeing the community grow and change.
With love and gratitude, 💕🙏🏼
Susie
