This is a registered non-profit organization created by parents and run by a voluntary board of directors. This organization was created to promote awareness, provide resources and be a support for families affected
by autism. WHAT IS AUTISM...
Autism is the most common neurological disorder affecting children and one of the most common developmental disabilities affecting Canadians in general. ASDs change the way the brain processes information and can affect all aspects of a person's development. Classic autism usually appears during the first three years of life. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurological disorder resulting in developmental disability. This affects:
Communication
Social understanding
Behaviour, activities & interests
Each individual is unique - no one person with ASD responds or behaves exactly like another with the same diagnosis. 1 out of every 91 Children are Diagnosed with Autism. OUR MISSION...

We are welcoming Leanne Taylor from Caregivers NS to share information to anyone caring and parenting youth ages 12-25 in our community! Meet our Family Support Worker, Jodie DesJardins, and check out our space here at Anchor!

Toileting Skills
• September 29, 12–1pm
• October 17, 9–10am

These free sessions share practical, evidence-informed strategies from health professionals to help build confidence in supporting your child’s development and everyday routines.

Open to all families and caregivers. Hosted by the Provincial Preschool Autism Service (PPAS) – a partnership between IWK Health, Nova Scotia Health, Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia, and Autism Nova Scotia.
