Gillian graduated from Humber College in 2006 with a diploma in Funeral Services and became a licensed funeral director later that same year. Her career in funeral service began in 2002 during a high school co-op with Patrick J. Darte Funeral Home in St. Catharines, under the guidance of Mike Guttin. After becoming licensed, she moved to Windsor in 2006 and worked with two local funeral homes before joining Arbor in January 2008.

Over the years, Gillian has gained valuable experience across a variety of roles. After several years with Arbor, she returned to school to complete studies in Human Resources Management, later rejoining the funeral profession at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home in 2018. She continued there through the acquisition by Arbor in 2022, then spent time in Saskatchewan in a management position with a family-owned funeral home before returning to Janisse Funeral Home in 2024 as Acting Assistant Manager to cover a maternity leave.

Outside of work, Gillian lives in Windsor with her husband, Sebastian, of 17 years, and their three children — Noah, Grayson, and Emersyn. Family life is busy and rewarding, with plenty of time spent supporting the kids’ extracurricular activities and enjoying time with family and friends.

Gillian is looking forward to getting involved in the Amherstburg community and continuing to provide the compassionate care and leadership that define the team at James H. Sutton Funeral Home.

Grief can feel especially heavy in the quiet moments, when absence is most deeply felt.

But with each new day, a gentle sense of hope begins to return, offering light in the spaces where sorrow once settled.

May those experiencing loss find comfort in knowing that love continues to endure, long after goodbye.

Sending strength and compassion to all who are grieving.

Today, we honour the family members who have passed, whose love, guidance, and stories continue to shape our lives.

This Valentine’s Day, we honour love in all its forms, past, present, and always remembered. Love doesn’t end; it lives on through memories, connection, and the bonds we carry with us.

We were recently honoured to care for a family who gathered together for a quiet donut breakfast before their loved one’s service.

It was a simple moment—coffee, juice, conversation, and shared memories—but it created space for connection before the day began.

Our Legacy Lounge was thoughtfully designed for moments just like this. Whether it’s a light breakfast, refreshments during visitation, or something more personalized, we’re grateful to be able to offer families small comforts that make a meaningful difference.

Because sometimes, it’s in those quiet moments together that support is felt the most. 🤍
