We kind of like it over here and would love to have you join us!

Welcome to Amy O’Connell SLP Services, a growing private practice built on the foundation of evidence-based, accountable and family-centered practice. Established in 2018, AO SLP services provides a full-range of services to children and their families through in-home, school-based and teletherapy practice.

We are currently looking to expand our practice by adding a third SLP to our growing team. This posting will remain open until we find our next team member. Our caseloads are booming and we are currently seeking candidates with paediatric experience, particularly in the delivery of early intervention and parent coaching support, natural language acquisition, autism, and motor speech services. CASLPO registration is ideal but we are able to support new graduates in their mentorship period. Travel is required for this position.

Those who know me know that I love a little boy with some pretty hefty challenges- one of which has been acquiring the timing and sequencing skills to speak clearly and with the same rhythm and stress patterns of his peers. Even today, apraxia of speech resonates within Ryan’s speech.

Today is - a day devoted to celebrating all of the children on the same journey as my boy. Whether having just received their diagnosis or (like us) well on their way in this apraxia journey, there is an entire community built around supporting our children.

To our - a huge thank you for your support over the past year. We are here because of your support! To all of the moms and dads new to this journey- we are here to support you and celebrate your child’s achievements with the deepest of understanding.

To thank you for funding the research, training the SLPs, building the community, and spreading the word. You are helping to build an awareness and support system that is changing the way many of our children will navigate this journey.

Here’s to our tiny heroes facing some mighty challenges! We are with you, beside you, working to help you find your voice 💙 Happy Apraxia Awareness Day.

This little monster has been tagging along to most of my sessions this week. He is definitely worth his weight in gold. Here’s why…

Today this little guy helped a client to practice his /L/ sound while also targeting his use of irregular past tense verbs… we had fun talking about all the things that our monster friend ate not eated 😊

Earlier this week our monster devoured the alphabet while helping a client to learn her vowel and consonant sounds for reading- he even burped out a few letters to have her blend into words.

Next week this little guy has plans to help a student with inferencing skills as we try to where he has been based on what he has eaten.

Gotta love when a simple toy supports so many of your speech and language goals… and he’s pretty darn cute too.

Looking back at 2022, I feel like it was one heck of an unpredictable year filled with questions and not enough answers. But at the end of it all, I'm still grateful to 2022 for:

-Showing me that change is not as scary as it seems
-Teaching me to embrace living with uncertainty
- Helping me focus on the smaller, often overlooked, sparks of happiness
- Showing me just how strong and resilient I am
- Allowing me to treasure the people in my life
.And now I am ready for the next chapter, come what may.

What has 2022 taught YOU?

Wrapping up the last day of work for 2022 with an incredibly grateful heart. I am so blessed to work with a group of amazing children while doing what I love. It doesn’t get much better than that ❤️

It’s been a long year but it’s been a great year. Cheers to the goals achieved, the milestones met, and the barriers knocked down.
