After becoming a licensed SLP, Bhavi landed her first work opportunity at Heaman Communication Services, now known as CBI Home Health. Here, Bhavi provided home visitation services along with on-site services within Durham and York district school boards. Thereafter, she worked for The Speech Therapy Centres of Canada Ltd. In this role, Bhavi continued to work with a differentiated clientele conducting assessments and therapy. She also had the opportunity to facilitate parent-based workshops called Hanen® It Takes Two to Talk.
Later in Bhavi’s career, she worked for Boomerang Health powered by SickKids, where she gained experience working on a multi-disciplinary team (OTs and PTs), and facilitated another Hanen®-based workshop called, More Than Words. This workshop allowed Bhavi to connect with families whose children were suspected or had autism spectrum disorder. This experience was so rewarding for Bhavi that it empowered her to take the next step in her career.
In 2015, Bhavi founded Stepping Stones Speech & Language Services in Alliston. Her goal was to provide services that were lacking in the Alliston and surrounding areas. Bhavi began with in-office services, and then branched out to offering in-home services. Bhavi feels in-home visits are crucial for development and building rapport with children, as it allows for intervention in the comfort of their own home, allowing the child to be more comfortable. Bhavi’s services are unique and specialized to suit different learning styles and address individual child and family needs
Bhavi maintains relationships with developmental pediatricians and family physicians in Alliston, along with other Speech-Language Pathologists through Royal Victoria Hospital with Early Intervention Services, in order to collectively help foster a multi-disciplinary approach to speech therapy among families.
Bhavi is a proud SLP and is excited to be a part of the Mill Pond Medical Centre in Alliston!
