Yarmouth Argyle Home Support Services YAHSS is a non-profit society providing home support services to Continuing Care Nova Scotia clients throughout Yarmouth County.

Yarmouth Argyle Home Support Services is a non-profit society providing home support services to Continuing Care Nova Scotia clients throughout Yarmouth County. We are dedicated to supporting our clients in independent living in their own homes as long as possible. Our staff are trained Continuing Care Assistants, and we work with local NSCC campuses in mentoring CCA graduating students. We provide services as authorized by Continuing Care branch of the NS Health Authority. Those services may include personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and respite.

CCAs provide home support services such as personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and respite to NS Continuing Care clients throughout Yarmouth County, assisting and supporting clients in maintaining their independence safely in their own home settings for as long as possible.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Supervisor
Full-Time position

The incumbent will work closely with the Executive Director, RN Supervisor, and part-time LPN Supervisor. Responsibilities include the supervision and continuing education of Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs), ensuring compliance with Home Care Standards for the provision of safe, quality client services.

Accountabilities include:
Supervision and performance evaluation of CCAs & students;
Assisting with staff training
Communication with Continuing Care
Assisting with client intake process
Responding to progress notes & incident reports & updating care plans
Attending client case conferences as needed
Participation in on-call rotations
Providing reporting information & data
Compliance with legislated Acts, regulations & Agency policies & procedures
Serving on internal and/or external committees

Knowledge & Education:
Current registered LPN with experience in managing & supervising staff
Strong communication skills
Sensitivity & awareness of client needs
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

Due to road & weather conditions and storm cleanup, our office will be closed today with Admin staff working from home. Clients are reminded to be prepared with backup plans should CCA staff not be able to complete visits as scheduled throughout the day, depending on conditions in their area. Clients can call our message line at 902-648-2137 and someone will return your call if needed.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause. The wind is causing whiteouts in many areas with heavy drifting and we value the safety of our staff on the roads.

With an impending winter storm being forecast for overnight and throughout the day on Monday, we would remind our clients and their families that their visits may or may not be affected. Please be prepared to activate your back up plan, especially if conditions require staff to be off the road for a prolonged period of time.
Should power and internet go down at any time, clients can still call our general line at 902-648-2137. Leave a message and someone will return your call if urgent.

Our road staff will call their clients if cancelling a visit due to the weather/road conditions. However, if they can't get through and are unable to leave a message for any reason, feel free to call the message line above to confirm.

We will be assessing the weather and road conditions tomorrow morning, potentially delaying opening, or closing it for the day. Our admin staff will still be working from home, as long as we have access to power and internet services.

Now hiring the following two CCA positions to provide personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and respite services to our Continuing Care clients:

One full-time term position (1 year minimum vacancy) with 40-hour/week guarantee. Daytime blocks 8am-6pm with two evening blocks 11:30am-9:30pm.

One full-time permanent position with 40 hour/week guarantee. Daytime blocks 7am-5pm with two evening blocks 11:30am-9:30pm.

Applicants must be fully certified as CCA with the province of NS and registered with the CCA registry; have reliable vehicle with current drivers license, insurance, registration; have current criminal & vulnerable sector checks and child abuse registry check; must be up-to-date in First Aid, CPR, food safety & WHMIS. Applicants are expected to have full competencies in personal care, meal preparation, and housekeeping duties, with strong communication and problem-solving skills. Applicants are expected to be reliable and trustworthy.
