We’re happy to share that Nakile is no longer in outbreak mode. 💛

As a result, masking requirements are lifted as of today, Wednesday, April 8th.

Thank you to our staff, residents, families, and visitors for your patience, cooperation, and care during this time.

We kindly remind everyone to continue practicing good hand hygiene and to stay home if feeling unwell.

🎉 A big moment worth celebrating! 🎉
Congratulations again to Elise Doucette, winner of our $1,000 Shopping Spree—generously donated by The Wilson Group! 🛍️

It was so nice to see Elise stop by to pick up her prize—moments like this are what it’s all about 💛

Together, we raised an incredible $3,710 in support of our Bus Fund 🚍

📷If you take a look behind us in this photo—you’ll see the bus that our residents rely on every day. While we’re so grateful to have it, it’s aging and becoming harder to maintain and rely on. 🔧

We’ve raised over $40,000 so far, with a goal of $200,000+ to bring a new accessible bus to Nakile—and we’re not stopping here.

Yesterday, we hosted our annual resident and staff families Easter egg hunt! 🥚

Rain boots, big smiles, and baskets full of treats made it an egg-stra special day for all! 🍫💛🍭

(Community fundraiser in support of Nakile’s Bus Fund — no training or pre-screening required!)

Mark your calendars for May 9th!
Local Argyle Councillor, Nakile board member, and 1 of our 4 volunteer bus driver Glenn Barry Diggdon is organizing a Cake and Pie Parade Fundraiser to help raise money for a new accessible bus for our residents!

Nakile is proud to support this community-led event — and we’re looking for volunteers, bakers, and donations to help make it a success!

We’re looking for:

🙋‍♀️ Volunteers – helping hands on the day of the event

👩‍🍳 Bakers – cakes, squares, sweets… the more the merrier!

🎁 Donations & Prizes – to add a little extra fun and excitement

📍 Location: West Pubnico Firehall

👥 Everyone is welcome — come out, support, and enjoy! FB event coming soon with all the details!

Glenn will also be out in the community over the next couple of weeks collecting donations and prizes.

🥗 Nutrition Month might be wrapping up, but the goodness doesn’t stop here at Nakile!

Today, our residents and staff enjoyed a fresh, colourful salad bar filled with a variety of tasty options and bright flavours—beautifully put together by our amazing dietitian and dietary team.

A big thank you to Sysco for donating fresh veggies for our salad bar—it brought a little extra freshness to our day! 💚

Moments like these may seem simple, but they go a long way in making each day feel a little more special—for both residents and staff.

⚠️ Attention Visitors of Nakile ⚠️

Due to two positive cases of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) within our resident population and several additional residents who are now symptomatic, we are taking the precautionary step of implementing mandatory masking requirements for all staff and visitors while at Nakile Home for Special Care.

Although currently, there are only two cases of RSV, we feel that this is the most appropriate step to take to help reduce the risk of further illness for ourselves and our residents.

Please remember to self-screen prior to coming into our home and, if you are showing signs of any illness, please stay home.

Remember to sanitize your hands before and after entering the building, and wear a Nakile approved mask while at Nakile, until further notice.

Darcy D’Eon taught us a thing or two about watercolour painting this afternoon, and we created beautiful paintings with her guidance. We channelled our inner Pablo Picasso — one brushstroke at a time.
